Today at 11am, we pause to remember.
Warde Aldam was joined by the Salvation Army this morning for our Armistice Day service, as we came together to honour the brave men and women who gave so much for our freedom. 🌺

Residents and staff observed the two-minute silence at 11:00, reflecting on their courage and sacrifice. We are deeply grateful to the Salvation Army for joining us in this meaningful time of remembrance.

Today we were honoured to welcome the wonderful pupils and staff from Upton Primary School to Warde Aldam Care Home as they helped us launch our Remembrance Sunday display. 🌺

Together, residents and children reflected on the bravery and sacrifices of those who served, sharing stories and creating a beautiful tribute to remember them by. ❤️

A huge thank you to Upton Primary for joining us — it was a touching and meaningful start to our Remembrance commemorations.

🍰 Parkin Taste Test! 🍰

Our staff had a delicious time today taste testing two batches of homemade Parkin — one made with golden syrup and the other with black treacle. 😋

There was plenty of friendly debate around the table… some loved the sweet, buttery notes of the golden syrup, while others preferred the rich, deep flavour of the black treacle! 💛🖤

🎆🔥 **Warde Aldam’s Guy Fawkes Fun!** 🔥🎆

Things got *fiery* this week as all three households went head-to-head in our **Guy Fawkes competition** — and wow, what a creative bunch we’ve got! 😄

From quirky characters to spooky Guys that could give Guy Fawkes himself a run for his money, every entry was bursting with imagination and laughter. 🎭💥

The residents had an absolute blast designing, stuffing, and decorating their Guys — and the judging? Let’s just say it wasn’t easy with so many amazing entries! 🏆😉

Winner will be announced tomorrow!

We warmly invite you to our community event offering support for those living with dementia, as well as people needing advice around advanced care or end of life care.

Join us for a morning of friendship, refreshments, and activities, with guidance available from:

Sarah attended our forget me knot meeting today bringing some gifts for the service.

“Earlier this year, my dad spent his final months at Warde Aldam. The care, kindness, and dignity shown to him – and to us as a family – meant more than words can say.

After Dad’s funeral, I wanted to give something back in his memory. In consultation with the team, we decided to purchase some Joy for All companion pets for the service. These lovely pets bring comfort, companionship, and smiles to residents, especially those living with dementia.

It’s my hope that these will bring a little extra joy, just as the staff here brought joy to my dad’s days. “💛
