🎉 Aims to Make History as the UK’s FIRST “Town of Culture”! 🎨🇬🇧

Big news for Pontypridd! 🌟 Rhondda Cynon Taf Council and Pontypridd Town Council have announced plans to put our town forward to become the UK Town of Culture 2028 — a title that could bring a £3 million celebration right here to our doorstep!

This isn’t just about prestige — it’s about showcasing what makes Pontypridd special: our people, our music, our heritage, and the strong community spirit that’s second to none.

Residents are being invited to share ideas and help shape the bid at two upcoming community workshops:

📍 Parc Arts, – Thursday 26th February | 11am – 1pm

📍 Pontypridd Museum – Saturday 28th February | 10.30am – 12pm

If you can’t attend, no worries — drop by Pontypridd Museum anytime over the next two weeks to leave your thoughts and get involved.

𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝘂𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗽𝗲 𝗨𝗞 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗣𝗼𝗻𝘁𝘆𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗱

The UK Town of Culture is a new, UK-wide initiative led by the Department for Culture, Media & Sport (DCMS), building on the success of the UK City of Culture programme. For the first time, towns of all sizes are invited to showcase their creativity, cultural heritage and unique stories, with a strong emphasis on inclusive and accessible culture.

The Council and Town Council want to develop the bid in collaboration with residents, businesses, community groups and other organisations. Everyone is invited to attend a series of community workshops where officers and partners will be on hand to talk about what a Town of Culture bid could mean for Pontypridd.
