March 21st marks World Down Syndrome Day 💙💛

The date (3/21) represents the triplication of the 21st chromosome—the genetic cause of Down syndrome.

First officially recognised by the United Nations in 2011, this day is all about raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and standing up for the rights of people with Down syndrome around the world.

Today is a reminder to celebrate diversity, embrace differences, and support equal opportunities for everyone.

Join the movement—wear your brightest, most colourful (or mismatched!) socks and show your support 🧦✨

Key Focus Areas & Tips for 2026:

👉Workplace Wellness: Host a "Tea Break" (Wednesday) to encourage taking breaks to eat and drink properly.

On Friday 27th March Dorset Breast Screening Unit are running an open afternoon.
This event is specifically aimed at ladies with learning disabilities to visit the unit and find out more about the services they offer.

They will have no other clinics running, so ladies can visit the mammogram rooms, touch equipment (sensory), etc., in the hope that the fear of attending will not stop them from coming.

There will have representatives from breast, bowel and LiveWell Dorset attending the event as well.

Please see the poster for all the information.
