November is Men’s Health Awareness Month

Because prostate cancer doesn't always show symptoms, regular testing is key, especially if you have a family history, a BRCA gene variant, or are from a Black ethnic group.

Symptoms to watch for include:

👉 Changes in urination

👉 Blood in urine or semen

👉 Pain in the lower back, hips or pelvis

👉 Fatigue

Prostate cancer is a leading cause of cancer-related deaths in men. Early detection makes a big difference.

Dr Steve Bick, GP at Haven Medical, highlights the importance of simple checks, especially if you're over 50, have a family history, carry a BRCA1/2 gene, or are of Black or African Caribbean descent.

Be alert to changes like:

Early screening saves lives 🤍

Cervical screening is one of the most important things a woman can do to look after her health. Around 10 women a day receive a diagnosis of cervical cancer every day in the UK.

At Haven Medical, our smear tests also check for HPV so you can be closely monitored if needed.

Appointments are available every Tuesday with our nurse, Julie Butler, or at other times with one of our female GPs - £115.
