In the UK, the clocks go forward by one hour at 1:00 am, next weekend, on Sunday, March 29. This marks the start of British Summer Time, where the clocks jump from 1:00 am to 2:00 am, resulting in more daylight in the evening.
The purpose?... to increase evening sunshine for leisure, boost productivity, reduce energy usage, and improve road safety by ensuring lighter evenings.
The idea was first proposed in a lighthearted way by Benjamin Franklin in 1784, but was seriously campaigned for in the UK by William Willett in the early 1900s to stop the "waste" of daylight. The UK first implemented the change in 1916.
Why am I bringing this up? Because on this day, next weekend, I'll be at my next event 😁 The Wimborne Wellbeing Fayre
Join me at the Allendale Centre for a day of holistic wellness as we celebrate the start of British Summer Time 😊
