Strange how sometimes our past returns in unusual ways. In 1994 I photographed Denise Johnson, for her single; Rays Of The Rising Sun. She was one of Manchesters finest singers who at the time was with the band Primal Scream. She sadly died in 2020 shortly before the posthumous release of her final album. I found out today the order of service at her funeral service used the cover artwork from that photo shoot back in 1994 ❤️

Our Thursday morning Qigong group at The Retreat New Forest does seem to luck in when it comes to the weather. We shared a spectacular November morning barefoot on the grass, building our resources and resilience for the winter ahead. 🙏🏻

November’s Elemental Shift

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, November marks the transition from Metal to Water from refinement and release to stillness and restoration.

Metal teaches us to let go, to strip things back to their essence like autumn trees surrendering their leaves.
Water invites us inward… into quiet reflection, soft replenishment, and the deep stillness that nourishes new life.

This shift reminds us that we are not separate from nature, we move through the same cycles of letting go, conserving, and renewing.

As we enter the season of Water, where might you welcome more rest, softness, or reflection into your practice and your life?

The Retreat New Forest has been home to the Richard Ellis School of Reiki since its very beginning—a place where the Usui Shiki Ryoho tradition has been practiced, taught, and lived.
To gather here with fellow masters, sharing practice, insight, and deep healing, is such a gift.
At a time when Reiki is often diluted, coming together in this space to celebrate our lineage, honor its mystic roots, and uphold the integrity of our practice felt especially meaningful.

Twenty Reiki Masters gathered for my recent Reiki Day at The Retreat New Forest
We shared insights, practiced together, and experienced deep healing.
In a time when Reiki is often being diluted, it felt powerful to honor the mystic order of Usui Shiki Ryoho—to stand in its tradition with humble, heart-centered masters, and to honour our lineage.
