So proud to be part of this amazing event.
Hey! Tom here.
I hope you have all had a brilliant bank holiday weekend.
It has been one month since we stood together in Charisworth Farm at this year's Teddy Rocks Festival and I am thrilled to be able to share with you the total raised in 2022.
The last three years have been incredibly challenging, especially for a festival run by volunteers. When Covid first hit, we were five weeks away from delivering the event; deposits were paid, marketing was in full swing and we were ready to go. When we were faced with the realisation that the event could not go ahead, we had a heart-breaking decision to make… do we try to keep this incredible festival alive with so many things against us? Or, do we put TRF to bed, knowing we gave it our best try. We had lost a lot and it was highlighted just how vulnerable this festival could make Teddy20, the charity we raise money for, if it was to all go wrong.
I remember the moment where I actually decided it was time to stop. It was a dark day. I started typing an email to send to the team telling them it was all over, but for some reason, I couldn't send it.
It hit me that ending this now, knowing the potential this thing has, to do so much good. It just wasn't an option. The team has worked tirelessly since 2020, to completely rebuild the festival from the ground up to ensure we could keep going. Our main priority was to protect the charity at all costs, and to bring this festival back to life.
With a lot of hard work, some restructuring, and a bit of luck at times, we actually saw ourselves maybe being able to pull through this. We saw that we may be able to survive and ensure that we come back again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that. We called 2022 our ‘survival year’, with our honest goal of still being here, and being able to draw a line in the sand after the rollercoaster of the pandemic. If we could cover costs and not make a loss, we could have a chance to rebuild, and push forward knowing the bigger picture and what we can do in years to come when we get back on our feet.
With that in mind, we gave the festival a new look – something to represent the fight we faced and the determination not to quit. We hope you liked our new branding, and it’s fair to say that this little bear has grown up!
We didn't just cover the costs of the festival... we bloody smashed it! I am so proud to say that somehow, you guys pulled us through, you dug deep and helped us deliver the best festival to date.
Teddy Rocks Festival 2022 has raised £60,869 to help children with cancer.
This figure is 100% of the profit made by the event, created by an army of volunteers. From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank every single person that helped make this happen. What you all did to help deliver this event is truly overwhelming and I can honestly say I don't think I have ever been more in love with this festival. We have had to fight our way through this. We will always fight for children with cancer.
Keep an eye on our socials and website over the summer to see exactly where this money is going and what it does. It really will help to save and change lives.
To our sponsors, Hall & Woodhouse, Vocalzone, Transcend Marketing, the absolute legends at The Greyhound Pub, and all of our wonderful sponsors and suppliers - THANK YOU! We cannot do this without you, you are incredible.
To every single person that came and sang along, this is all because of you. Festivals are nothing without good people. The fact that you chose to come along and support us, is the reason we can do the good stuff.
So please share this far and wide and not only celebrate the fact that we are still here, and will be for years to come, but celebrate this unbelievable amount of money that you have helped raise in a year that should never have happened.
We have defied all odds. We have survived. We are Teddy Rocks Festival
So… time to get the 2023 festival into gear! Who is with us?
