We have been approached to support a Research Study conducted by The University of South Wales.

The research aims to gain insights by evaluating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), from the view of those who have taken part, towards understanding its impacts on Depression.

If you would like to take part in this study or find out more information, please take some time to read the information below carefully.

If you would like to ask any further questions, or to clarify if anything you read is unclear, please do contact the research team directly - becky.yarwood@southwales.ac.uk

What is the purpose of the study?
The purpose of this study is to ask people who have experienced CBT (experts by experience) to evaluate what they believe to be the most important and least important parts (components) of the therapy. We will also be asking mental health clinicians the same questions in a separate questionnaire. Answers will be viewed in comparison to see what both groups feel to be the most and least helpful. The purpose of this study is to narrow down through two rounds of rating, which parts of therapy are the most helpful. While studies of this nature typically tend to only seek the expertise of mental health clinicians, I believe it is just as important to ask service users for their expertise as developed through their experience of taking part in therapy.

Why have I been invited?
We are recruiting participants who have completed a course of clinician-led cognitive behavioural therapy in the UK due to difficulties relating to depression. You have been invited because you have identified yourself as having completed a one-to-one qualified clinician led CBT intervention. The therapy could have been delivered either in person or via video call, and would have been delivered by a clinician (mental health counsellor, CBT therapist/high intensity therapist, or clinical psychologist).

Have you received cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) for depression with a clinician in the UK? We are looking for participants to complete two online surveys to rate the most important parts of CBT.
Each survey will take approximately five minutes and there is a two-month gap in between them. As recipients of CBT, your contribution is valuable and will play an important role in making CBT better!
