Last week, we had the pleasure of engaging with GPs from the Bournemouth Collaborative PCN at Shelley Manor and Holdenhurst Medical Centre at a Lunch & Learn session.

Consultant Haematologist Ms Rachel Hall led the session, sharing her expert knowledge and real-world insights. There was great engagement, with lots of questions and positive feedback from GPs who found the session both useful and relevant to their practice.

We’re so pleased to be able to offer these educational sessions and look forward to welcoming more GPs to future events.

🧼🔍 This IPC Week at Harbour Hospital, our IPC Lead, Donna, went above and beyond to raise awareness and reinforce best practices across the hospital.

Throughout the week, Donna organised a series of engaging activities for both clinical and non-clinical staff, designed to highlight the importance of infection prevention in everyday practice. From the Hidden Pathogens Hunt to the “Dressed to Protect” uniform challenge, staff were encouraged to think critically and creatively about how infections spread - and how we can stop them.

Today’s grand finale: IPC Detective!
Donna transformed a patient bedroom into a hands-on challenge, inviting staff to identify 10 IPC non-compliant items.

👏 Infection prevention is everyone’s responsibility, and here at Harbour Hospital, we’re proud of the enthusiasm and commitment shown by our teams this week.

Thank you, Donna, for your incredible effort in making IPC Week both educational and enjoyable!

IPC is important as it :
- Protects patients
- Keeps staff safe
- Improves outcomes

Infection prevention is everyone’s responsibility and here at Harbour Hospital, we take great pride in maintaining high standards of compliance across all teams to keep our patients and staff safe.

We’ve just hosted another great evening at Harbour Hospital, all about Upper Gastrointestinal (GI) health.

A huge thank you to Consultant Upper GI Surgeon Mr Oliver Allenby-Smith, who shared helpful advice on common digestive issues like acid reflux and gallbladder problems. Guests learned about symptoms, causes, and treatment options, including lifestyle tips and surgery.

With a welcoming atmosphere, great conversations, and a light buffet, it was a fantastic evening of learning and connection.

Thank you to everyone who joined us. We can’t wait to see you at our next free patient event!
