Port Talbot Funeral Service

Port Talbot Funeral Service Independent Funeral Services | Private Chapel of Rest | 24 Hour Personal Service It closed its doors in 2008 as a Church and was left to deteriorate.

Holy Cross Church, otherwise known as the Chapel of Ease was built in 1827 with the permission of Margams 'Talbot' family. Plans were sought to change the Church into a house, which included relocating several headstones and surfacing over those graves to provide a parking area. However, Mr Malcolm Evans, a lifelong member of the Church and local funeral director purchased this beautiful building and restored it to its former glory including the magnificent stained glass window. The surrounding grounds are also maintained meaning the final resting place for your loved ones is both a beautiful and peaceful place to visit.

Today we take a moment to reflect on Good Friday.

A time for quiet thought, remembrance and reflection. For many, it is an opportunity to pause and remember loved ones, holding onto the memories that mean so much.

Our thoughts are with anyone who may be finding today difficult.

A huge thank you to Jordan’s Waste & Clearance for coming back to remove the final rolls of AstroTurf from the churchyard.

This has been a significant job, and their support has made a real difference in helping us move things forward.

We’re now beginning to make progress inside the church itself, as we prepare the space for memorial services and quiet reflection.

We’re incredibly grateful for the kind words and ongoing support from the local community as we continue this work.

HANDS UP… who’s seen us in the news today?! 🐐📺

Our famous four have been making headlines again, this time featuring on ITV News across the breakfast, lunchtime, and evening bulletins!

We’re still a bit blown away by the attention they’ve had. What started as a simple idea has turned into something really special, and it’s been amazing to see the support and interest from the community and beyond.

Here are a few snippets from our moment of fame…

Thank you again to everyone who has visited, shared posts, and supported us, it really does mean a lot.

A big thank you to Jordan and the team for their help today in removing the Astroturf from the graveyard.

Jordan’s Waste & Clearance

They’ve generously given up their time to support us and the wider community, and it’s made a real difference to the ongoing work we’re carrying out on the grounds.

Safe to say they were certainly the right people for the job!

They’ll be back again tomorrow to take the remaining rolls, and we’re very grateful for their continued support.

We were very grateful to receive a thank you card this week from a family we supported recently.

Each card we receive is carefully kept and placed on our boards within the chapel of rest. They serve as a quiet reminder of the families we have had the privilege to support, and the trust placed in us during such difficult times.

Our team works with care, dignity and compassion in everything we do, and it truly means a great deal to be recognised in this way.

Thank you to the family for your kind words, they are very much appreciated.

We’ve had quite a bit of interest over the past few days in one of the vehicles currently at the chapel.

We’re fortunate to have bought one of the late Queen Mother’s former cars at Port Talbot Funeral Service. It’s a beautiful vehicle with a lot of history behind it, and it’s certainly caught the attention of people passing by.

The car will be with us until Thursday before it goes away for a full restoration.

If anyone would like to come and have a look, you are more than welcome to stop by before then.

We’re currently looking for a bit of help from the local community.

We have a number of rolls of AstroTurf that need lifting and either placing into a skip or removing from site. Due to the size and weight, this would ideally need something like a HIAB or similar vehicle.

If anyone is able to assist, or knows someone who could help, we would be incredibly grateful. This is part of our ongoing efforts to improve and maintain the grounds, keeping it a respectful and peaceful place for families to visit.

We’re hoping someone may be willing to support this for the benefit of the graveyard and the wider community.

Please feel free to comment below or send us a message.

Thank you in advance for any help or recommendations.
