❄️Wintering❄️Hygge❄️
I felt the need to share these images I've come across following what can be considered as the intensity of the Christmas & New Year Seasons.
If you didn't already know, "Wintering" is an actual thing❄️
❄️The term was loaned from the world of nature lovers, naturalists, conservationists, environmentalists and highly knowledgeable people who connect with & study how animals survive the months of winter❄️
❄️"Wintering"❄️is now widely used and talked about amongst wellness communities. Used as a way of giving ourselves permission to rethink or reframe the intense pressure felt amongst families during the busyness of not only the winter season, but specifically the seasons of Christmas and New Year. ❄️The pressure is on for us to be everywhere and everything to everyone & to also host the "perfect" Christmas, followed by the concept that we should then ramp up our energy levels to meet the long held belief ingrained in us since forever, of "New Year, New You!❄️
❄️I love the idea of integration of "wintering" into the mix of such a busy season, or even fully replacing it.
If we buy into all the chaos and challenges of Christmas & New Year, then it's a choice that we make to do that❄️
❄️ Moving into "Wintering" is an alternative choice to the one where we struggle with the chaos. It means that we get to choose to align with retreating into a period of rest, just like the animals that retreat into hibernation. Its in this retreat, that we get to rest, reset and recharge & flow with nature's cycle. This is where we honour the body's natural desire or urge to slow things down rather than ramp things up❄️
❄️If you didn't already know it, this is a radical act of self-care, to which we are all entitled❄️
❄️So why not try to fully embrace the idea of "Wintering & Hygge" by creating the space to heal and recharge, creating a cosy environment and soft comfortable spaces with warm drinks and soft blankets, pillows & furnishings❄️
❄️Give yourself time to reflect & connect & during this period, you can then contemplate life's direction, rather than feel the pressure to make unrealistic & often unachievable resolutions and goals at one minute to midnight at the very end of the year❄️
