As part of this weekโ€™s Construction Industry Federation Safety Campaign, weโ€™ve been focusing on Critical Risks - the high-impact activities that require extra attention and control measures to keep everyone safe.

Today, we're looking at Access & Egress - ensuring everyone can safely enter and exit their work areas, particularly in confined or high-risk spaces.

On Tuesday, 22nd October, we delivered Confined Space Training at the Project Black site for Walls Construction, using our specialised mobile training unit.

The session provided valuable hands-on experience in:

โœ… Safe Entry & Escape Procedures
โœ… Correct Use of Breathing Apparatus
โœ… The use of tripods and man riding winches
โœ… Use of gas detection equipment

This training reinforces a vital safety principle:

In our industry, we often talk about falls, machinery, PPE - but one of the biggest hidden risks on site is mental health.

โ€ข Workers in construction are nearly four times more likely to take their own lives than workers in other sectors.
โ€ข A recent survey found that 87% of workers in the builtโ€‘environment sector experience anxiety, 70% depression, and 26% have had suicidal thoughts.
โ€ข Poor mental health is not only a human tragedy - itโ€™s a safety risk. When someone is distracted, stressed, fatigued or feeling unsafe in themselves, the chances of mistakes, nearโ€‘misses or accidents go up.
