Pont Newydd Medical Centre

Pont Newydd Medical Centre Pont Newydd Medical Centre official page to inform patients of practice updates We offer a full General Medical Service.

Pont Newydd Medical Centre serves the whole of Porth as well as the surrounding areas. Our team includes five Partners; five salaried GP's; five nurses; three health care assistants, 2 pharmacists, 3 pharmacy technicians as well as our practice managers, office supervisor and administrative staff. As a teaching practice, we will on occasions have medical students from both Cardiff and Swansea University. These are medical students who are here to learn and are supervised by the GP’s. If you would not like a student present during your consultation, then please inform the staff when booking your appointment

There is a pharmacy attached to the building which offers on-site dispensing service. Our aim is to treat all our patients promptly, courteously and in complete confidence. We feel that it is important to know who you are speaking to, so our practice staff wear a name badge and identify themselves whilst taking telephone calls. If you live in our practice area and would like to register with us, please complete our registration forms which are available at the reception desk or or on our practice website along with our new patient questionnaire. Please See The Following Advice For The Planned Industrial Action of Health Visitors in CTM UHB

You may be aware that some Health Visitors in the CTM Health Board area are taking industrial action over the next 4 weeks (23rd February to 20th March 2026).

Our priority during this period is the safety and accessibility of services provided to you and your family and we are working hard to minimise the impact you experience. However, to keep services safe and ensure we can support families with more complex and urgent needs, we are having to restrict some activities, including routine appointments which have already been cancelled.

Where the health board has not contacted you to cancel appointments, please note these are expected to take place as normal. If you are unsure if group drop-in sessions have been cancelled, please contact us (see below).

Because normal methods of contact may be disrupted, we have established a single point of access which we would kindly ask you to use as the main way to contact the Health Visiting service. You will find the details below:

Tel 01443 803930 or CTM.SPOAHealthVisiting@wales.nhs.uk

We aim to respond to all enquiries within two hours.

There is also a website which you may find useful: Children's Health Visiting

Remember, if your baby or child is unwell and you are concerned, you should contact your GP or 111 as you normally would.

We are very sorry for the disruption and any concern caused by this issue. Please be assured that we will continue working hard to minimise the extent to which are affected.

Camau Gweithredu Diwydiannol Cynlluniedig Ymwelwyr Iechyd BIP CTM

Efallai eich bod yn ymwybodol bod rhai Ymwelwyr Iechyd yn ardal Bwrdd Iechyd CTM yn cymryd camau gweithredu diwydiannol dros y 4 wythnos nesaf (23 Chwefror i 20 Mawrth 2026).

Ein blaenoriaeth yn ystod y cyfnod hwn yw diogelwch a hygyrchedd y gwasanaethau sy’n cael eu darparu i chi a'ch teulu ac rydym yn gweithio'n galed i leihau'r effaith a gewch. Fodd bynnag, er mwyn cadw gwasanaethau'n ddiogel a sicrhau y gallwn gefnogi teuluoedd ag anghenion mwy cymhleth a brys, mae'n rhaid i ni gyfyngu ar rai gweithgareddau, gan gynnwys apwyntiadau arferol sydd eisoes wedi'u canslo.

Lle nad yw'r bwrdd iechyd wedi cysylltu â chi i ganslo apwyntiadau, nodwch fod disgwyl i'r rhain ddigwydd fel yr arfer. Os ydych yn ansicr a yw sesiynau galw heibio grŵp wedi'u canslo, cysylltwch â ni (gweler isod).

Oherwydd y gallai dulliau cysylltu arferol gael eu tarfu, rydym wedi sefydlu un pwynt mynediad y byddem yn gofyn yn garedig i chi ei ddefnyddio fel y brif ffordd i gysylltu â'r gwasanaeth Ymwelwyr Iechyd. Fe welwch y manylion isod:

Ffôn 01443 803930 neu CTM.SPOAHealthVisiting@wales.nhs.uk

Ein nod yw ymateb i bob ymholiad o fewn dwy awr.

Mae gwefan hefyd a allai fod yn ddefnyddiol i chi: Ymweliadau Iechyd Plant

Cofiwch, os yw'ch babi neu'ch plentyn yn sâl ac rydych chi’n bryderus, dylech gysylltu â'ch meddyg teulu neu 111 fel y byddech fel arfer.

Mae'n ddrwg iawn gennym am yr aflonyddwch ac unrhyw bryder a achosir gan y mater hwn. Byddwch yn dawel eich meddwl y byddwn yn parhau i weithio'n galed i leihau graddau’r aflonyddwch.

📢 Help General Practice by Accessing Healthcare Appropriately

GP services are here to support patients with medical problems that require assessment, diagnosis and ongoing care.

You can help us care for the community by choosing the right service for your needs:

💊 Minor illnesses (coughs, colds, sore throats, simple rashes)? Your local pharmacist can often help quickly — no appointment needed.

📄 Administrative queries, sick notes and routine requests? These can usually wait for a quieter day later in the week.

📅 Ongoing, stable conditions? Routine reviews do not need to be requested on a Monday.

🚨 Urgent or serious symptoms? Contact the surgery promptly, call 111, or dial 999 in an emergency.

By accessing services appropriately, you help ensure that patients with urgent medical needs are seen as quickly as possible.

Thank you for working with us to support the whole community.

💡 How to get the right help on a Monday:

🔹 Use online services where possible
🔹 Order prescriptions early (not on a Monday morning if you can avoid it!)
🔹 Be clear about your symptoms when speaking to reception
🔹 Consider if your issue may be suitable for a pharmacist

Our reception team are trained to ask questions — this helps us direct you safely to the right clinician.
