Welcome to The Family Health podcast with Mini First Aid.
Episode 9: Black Maternal Health
Black women in the UK are four times more likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth than white women. Asian women are twice as likely to die in pregnancy and childbirth.*
These statistics are staggering and shameful, and this week on the Family Health Podcast, we talk to Angie, Paediatric nurse, safeguarding lead and Mini First Aid Diversity Training Lead, who has just given birth to two perfect babies!
Angie has worked in the NHS for several years and, having just given birth, has a unique perspective from a black mother’s point of view of the pregnancy journey within the NHS system.
Angie also discusses her passion for diversity in post-natal education and what we at Mini First Aid are doing to ensure our first aid training is inclusive.
This raw and honest discussion is not to be missed.
