Diane visited our state of the art clinic Prema on Tuesday, and has very kindly allowed us to share her journey with you.
Having previously undergone refractive laser surgery about 20 yrs ago, Diane knew she needed to be in expert and experienced hands this time round. As she had mild cataract and some astigmatism, and wanted the best possible visual outcome, Diane opted for our Refractive Lens Exchange package with premium lenses. All follow up appointments are included in this package, so we look forward to catching up with Diane again soon and sharing her final results with you!

Keratoconus is a non-inflammatory eye condition in which the cornea (the clear window at the front of the eye) becomes progressively thinner, causing a cone-like bulge to develop. This causes the eye to become more myopic and more astigmatic, but standard spectacles and contact lenses may not be enough to achieve good vision.

Once the condition has been diagnosed, early intervention is based around stabilising the cornea and preventing the cone from developing further. This can be done by using collagen cross-linking to strengthen the cornea, topography guided laser or specialist contact lenses, either individually or in combination.

Advanced cases may need corneal graft surgery, carried out by our experienced specialist corneal surgeons Mike Tappin and Rakesh Jayaswal.

As the outside temperature drops and indoor heating is turned on, many people become more aware of their eyes feeling dry. Dry eye is a medical condition giving rise to sore, gritty, irritable eyes which bizarrely can also be much more watery than normal. Traditional treatments can be hard work to maintain, and very frustrating when the result are disappointing, despite having used lubricating drops, lid scrubs and a heat bag.
