A Slice of Happiness at Baking Club 🥕🍰

We had a wonderful Baking Club session today up on Lavender, bringing residents together from all floors to share a much-loved common interest — baking. It was lovely to see residents mix, chat, and connect over something so familiar and meaningful.

Yesterday was World Carrot Cake Day (3rd February), so today our lovely ladies decided to celebrate by making a delicious carrot cake together. Baking provides fantastic mental stimulation, routine, and a sense of purpose, allowing residents to enjoy an activity many have done throughout their lives.

The best part? Sitting around the table afterwards, tasting the fruits of their labour and sharing plenty of smiles.

A huge thank you to Cherelle for hosting such a fantastic and meaningful session 💛

AYLA Making a REAL Difference In Our Home💬✨

Our AYLA (CBT) sessions are going from strength to strength. We began with a group of seven residents and are now over halfway through our first seven-week programme, running every Monday and Wednesday.

Residents have shared that they feel more alert, more confident, and more motivated to join other activities, with particular benefits seen for those settling into the home or experiencing anxiety or distress.

Each session is individual, engaging, and different from the last, and residents now really look forward to their Monday and Wednesday at 11am.

We’re excited to continue with a new group once this programme ends, with the aim of making AYLA available to everyone in the home.

Photos show highlights from sessions so far 📸✨

Moving Well, Feeling Well 💪✨

We’re proud of the high-quality physical activities and stimulation available to our residents.
Our physiotherapist Daniela visits the home on a fortnightly basis and has built a fantastic rapport with residents.

Her warm, engaging, and truly person-centred approach has been especially valuable for residents on our dementia floor, as well as for new residents settling into life in our residential setting.

In between Daniela’s visits, our dedicated Wellbeing Team continues to deliver engaging chair-based activities, Oomph exercises, and light exercise sessions, helping residents stay active, confident, and involved.

Here at Cooperscroft we truly value each resident and believe in the old adage about using it and losing it. The photos attached are from recent physical activity sessions 📸😊

We had a fantastic Burns Night celebration at Cooperscroft, celebrating a little early on Friday 23rd January, and what a wonderful afternoon it was! 🥃🎶

Residents, family members, and our team all came together to enjoy a truly special event filled with music, culture, and great company. We were delighted to welcome the Royal National Scottish Dancers, whose performances were thoroughly enjoyed by everyone, bringing energy and tradition into the home.

We were also treated to a beautiful bagpipe solo by George Carney, which added a very special atmosphere to the afternoon. George made the celebration even more memorable by playing Happy Birthday for NJ, who was celebrating her birthday on the same day — a really touching moment that put smiles on so many faces. 🎂💙

It was a joyful, memorable day for all involved and a celebration we will treasure.

We will be posting some more highlights from the past month in the coming days as we welcome in February!

We were absolutely delighted to welcome Borehamwood Community Choir into our home on 28th January, and what a fantastic afternoon it was! 🎶✨

The visit was kindly organised by our wonderful BDM, Dawn, and it truly brought so much joy to everyone involved. Residents thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful singing, joining in where they could, clapping along, and simply soaking up the uplifting atmosphere. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and a real sense of togetherness throughout the afternoon.

Moments like these mean so much to our residents, supporting wellbeing and creating special memories that stay with us long after the music ends. We would like to say a huge thank you to Borehamwood Community Choir for sharing their time and talent with our residents and team.

You are always welcome at Cooperscroft, and we wish you all the very best — please come back and sing for us again anytime! 💙

We were delighted to welcome Camilo back to our home for an intimate, candlelit morning sing-along, Connections of Music.

The session was truly special, with Camilo also taking time to connect one-to-one with individual residents, creating meaningful and heart-warming moments throughout the day. Camilo's playlist was wonderfully eclectic as we sang Irish, French, Latin and English songs. Our residents truly enjoyed and appreciated the event and we can't thank him enough - Camilo also spent time visiting residents in their rooms too which was a lovely touch.

Alongside flower arranging and musical bingo, it made for fantastic entertainment and engagement - especially for our residents on the top floor, many of whom are living with forms of dementia. A wonderful day all round, and we’re already looking forward to welcoming Camilo back again in two weeks’ time 💛🎵

🎨🌷 A brilliant start to the week at Cooperscroft 🎨😍

We began Monday on a wonderfully creative note with a Creative Minds session led by Elaine, held in Clover's Lounge.

It was lovely to see both new and familiar faces come together, with new residents joining in and thoroughly enjoying the activity. The session encouraged creativity, conversation and plenty of smiles all round.

Moments like these are a fantastic way to help everyone feel relaxed, engaged and part of the Cooperscroft community. Please take a look at the photos to get a real insight into just how engaging and enjoyable the session was.

Cooperscroft is a home where all kinds of stimulation is offered to our residents and on the 29th we will be inviting Cuffley's Arts Society for even more creative collaboration!

✨ A Lovely Day Out at Hatfield Galleria ✨

Last week, we enjoyed a really special trip out to Hatfield Galleria after residents asked for a shopping outing. For many, it was their first visit, making it an exciting and brand-new experience all round.

We shared a relaxed coffee together at Costa before enjoying a browse around the shops, with M&S and TK Maxx being particular favourites. It was a wonderful day spent chatting, shopping, and making lovely memories together.

A truly fantastic day out 💙

🌟 **Chancellor's School Young Chefs Shine at Rotary Young Chef Competition!** 🌟

Young chefs showcased their skills at the Rotary Young Chef Competition hosted by Brookmans Park Rotary. A panel of judges, including Stuart Keown, Dawn Cawley, and Neil Kirby, evaluated the participants on organisation, technique, presentation, and flavour.

15-year-old Gabriella D’Avella won with her two-course meal of rack of lamb and a jam tartlet. The competition encourages healthy cooking on a budget, teaching valuable skills in organisation and pressure management.

Judges noted the impressive variety of international cuisines prepared by the 11 to 16-year-old contestants. Gabriella will advance to compete with winners from other schools in Beds, Bucks, and Herts, and her recipes will also feature on the menu at TLC Care homes. 🎉

The Rotary Young Chef Competition aims to unlock the potential of young people through friendly competition.
