✨ A Proud Moment for Cuffley Manor ✨

On Sunday 30th, we were honoured to be part of Potters Bar’s first-ever Turning On The Lights ceremony, organised by Cllrs Chris Myers and Chris Grey. Cuffley Manor, along with our sister home Cooperscroft Care Home, was delighted to be named as one of the sponsors after supporting some of the fairground rides.

We were joined by local councillors — and even EastEnders stars Michelle Collins and Thomas Law, who switched on the lights themselves! It was also wonderful to see so many friends of our home who regularly engage with our events and activities.

A special highlight was having our lovely resident Joy with us. Joy said, “That was fantastic turnout! I remember my first Potters Bar Christmas all that time ago after moving from South London.”

A magical community moment we were proud to be part of. 🎄✨

✨❄️ Winter Warmth, Luxury Taste ❄️✨

Today we hosted a wholesome tasting of our upcoming Winter Menu, with residents and their families enjoying a first look at the dishes before the full launch later this month. After residents expressed a wish to be involved at their last meeting, every floor in the home took part—making it a truly inclusive and engaging experience.

Led by our new Hotel Services Manager, Lewis, and beautifully delivered by Alina and her fantastic kitchen team.

The afternoon showcased the luxury, warmth, and choice that define our purpose-built home—especially during the winter months.

🌟 A Lovely Trip to St Albans Museum! 🌟

Residents from Cuffley Manor enjoyed a wonderful visit to the St Albans Museum + Gallery, where we learned so much about Hertfordshire’s people during the war years. We also loved seeing all the beautiful Christmas trees on display.

It was an inspiring and memorable day out for everyone!

✨ A Lovely Morning at the Local Church ✨

On Thursday (20th November), some of our wonderful residents — Lise, Jean M, Jean E and Bridie — enjoyed a beautiful coffee morning at our local church.

They were joined by Vanya, our Wellbeing Lead, Emilia from our Activities Team, Zach from Business Development, and Anne, our Hotel Services Manager. It was truly a team effort!

Staying connected with the church is so important to many of our residents, and we’re always grateful for the warm welcome we receive. Spiritual connection and meaningful community involvement are such essential parts of life here at Cuffley Manor, and we love supporting our residents in continuing the traditions that matter to them.

We also made the most of our visit by bringing along some handmade cupcakes on behalf of Cakes for Kindness — a small way to give back to a community that does so much for us.

🍰 Cakes for Kindness Day – Baking a Difference Together! 🧡

Today at Cuffley Manor, our home was filled with the sweetest aromas and even sweeter intentions. As part of Cake4Kindness CIC, an initiative inviting care homes, schools, hospitals, workplaces and individuals to bake for change, our incredible community came together to spread kindness far beyond our doors.

With this year’s uplifting slogan, “Baking a Difference Together,” our residents, team members and even family members rolled up their sleeves to create an amazing 124 cakes — all lovingly baked and all delivered with a smile.

We had an impressive THREE distribution days visiting homelessness organisations and community partners including "The Open Door Project", Emmaus Hertfordshire, and Goffs Oak Methodist Church as well as supporting our local church's monthly coffee morning - Causeway Community Church!

We also shared cakes with those who support us and work closely with our residents — Parkfield Medical Centre and our local pharmacy, Questmoor Pharmacy — as a heartfelt thank-you for the care they provide.

This wonderful initiative didn’t just fill cake boxes — it strengthened community bonds. By meeting new local partners and reconnecting with familiar ones, we were able to deepen relationships that support both our residents and the wider community, paving the way for meaningful collaboration in the future.

It was a truly inspiring display of teamwork, compassion, and shared purpose. We’re so proud of everyone who took part, and we hope these cakes bring comfort, joy, and a reminder that kindness always makes a difference.

A special thank you goes out to Malcolm, one of our dedicated volunteers who supports our wellbeing team with resident's trips and activities and who kindly helped us with some of the drop-offs. A special mention also goes out to our kitchen team, our wellbeing and care team and the residents who came together to bake kindness!

✨ A Great Morning at Cuffley Manor ✨

We recently hosted a small networking breakfast here at Cuffley Manor — bringing together local businesses and community partners we’ve been building relationships with over the past six months.

It was a relaxed, friendly morning filled with good conversations, fresh ideas, and a real sense of local support.

We’re grateful to everyone who took the time to join us and help strengthen the connections that make our community thrive.

Thank you to all who came along and to those that invited new businesses on the day into our network — we look forward to more positive partnerships ahead and will keep all posted regarding the next event. 💛

✨ Team Development Update! ✨

On Thursday, our Cuffley Manor Home Manager Alex, Cooperscroft Home Manager Subin, and our Practice Development Lead Millie attended the Skills for Care Overview of Mandatory Training Requirements webinar.

The session focused on the essential training our team members need when supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism or come in to contact with. We heard from knowledgeable speakers from Skills for Care, CQC, and NHS England — and it was incredibly informative!

A key highlight was the discussion around the Oliver McGowan Code of Practice, which had its final consultation on 6th September 2025. The code sets clear expectations on the content and delivery of training, ensuring that support for people with learning disabilities and autism is safe, person-centred, and of the highest quality.

We’re committed to ensuring our teams are equipped with the right knowledge and skills to provide outstanding care. 💙

💕 Cuffley Goes Above & Beyond: Supporting Independence Through Day Trips 💕

Yesterday, our fantastic Wellbeing Team — led by Vanya — enjoyed a wonderful trip to London Colney with three of our residents - Laurie, Beth & Lise.

The smiles and the focus in the photos say it all — they absolutely loved it!
