💭 Am I a bit naffed off to have stayed the same? Yes.
💭 Am I surprised? No.
💭 So am I ok with it? Absolutely!
Here’s why!
🏃♀️ 🏋️♀️ When you start exercising more or push your body harder, it doesn’t instantly know you’re doing something positive!
😤 From your body’s perspective, you’ve suddenly started burning more energy, your heart’s racing, and you’re under “stress.”
🙋🏼♀️ So what does it do?
It flicks into fight or flight mode, your ancient survival system.
👉🏻 Cortisol (your stress hormone) rises to help you cope. That’s brilliant when you’re running from a 🦁 … but less helpful when you’re just trying to get stronger or leaner!
👉🏻 In that state, your body can hold onto fat - especially around your middle - and the scales don’t move.
It’s not failure, it’s just physiology.
🥳 The good news? Once your body realises you’re not under attack and starts adapting to the new routine, cortisol settles, recovery improves, and your results start to show.
So if the scale hasn’t moved yet, stay calm.
Your body is changing. You’re teaching it something new, and that takes time, consistency, and a bit of trust in the proces.
What I will say is I feel amazing! Onwards we go, clocked another 5 miles this morning and back at the gym tomorrow.
Weight loss really isn’t about food and exercise. There are other factors that I bet haven’t even crossed your mind!
