This year has turned my thoughts into reality, I have always dreamt of holistically supporting women through the passage to motherhood. Our maternity systems are calling on us to return back to community, support, connection and understanding as each mother’s journey is ever changing and individual. In such a huge life event, when someone trusts you to support them, it is always an honour.

I’m so grateful to everyone who has put their trust in me to guide them, whether that’s through yoga or support on their lactation journey. I am and always have been someone who loves to connect with those around me, in real life, so often this platform goes by the wayside (not through lack of wanting). Next year I hope to step up and share more knowledge on here just as I do in person but for now I’m giving myself permission to take a holiday and will be back mid January.

I wish you all the happiest Christmas with your new family or a peaceful one before your most special gift arrives.

How to know your baby is getting enough milk…

🤱🏼Frequent feeds: 8–12 times per 24 hours

🤱🏽Swallowing: You should be able to see baby swallowing (ratio of 1/2 sucks : 1 swallow)

🤱🏾 Content after feeding: Your baby should look relaxed or sleepy, not showing feeding cues or still rooting.

🤱🏿 Wet and dirty nappies (see my next post for normal output)

🤱🏻 Weight gain: After the initial post-birth weight loss (up to 10% is normal), your baby should be gaining weight, the midwife and health visitor will track this at checkups.

🤱🏼 Breast changes: Your breasts may feel softer and less full after feeding.
