Meeting.

(...some thoughts based on posts I've sadly read this week...)

Understanding that everyone operates from their current level of development, influenced by their past experiences, cultural lens, and personal maturity is a cornerstone of empathy and emotional intelligence.

This perspective, often called 'meeting people where they are,' acknowledges that individuals are doing the best they can with the tools they currently have, even if those behaviors seem limiting, irrational, or frustrating.

Try to consider...

🌀 ️Perception dictates behavior.
People only understand you at the level they understand themselves, filtering reality through their own lived experiences.

👀 Environmental influences.
Behaviour is normalized by groups; if a behavior is deemed acceptable within a person's social context, they will adopt it.

👇🏽Meeting them where they are.
This requires focusing on presence rather than fixing. It means recognizing a person’s current state without needing to change it, which can create a safe space for potential growth.

Remembering we are all human.

'A delicate balance of inner spiritual development with outer social action, ensuring that methods are as respectful and compassionate as the wish for the result itself.'

Standing up for what is right involves aligning actions with integrity and love rather than anger, fear or for egotistical desire.
Remembering that we all make mistakes but the key to recognition and change is education and understanding.

Key aspects...

👁 Focusing energy on addressing the injustice itself, not attacking or demonising the individual - maintaining compassion for them as fellow humans and underlining the perspective; we meet people where they are at.

❤️ Tactics must reflect values. A noble goal cannot be achieved using disreputable or cruel methods.

🕊 Be the change itself by ensuring actions come from a place of inner peace rather than chaotic outrage.

🌀 Act from the recognition that we are all interconnected, meaning harmful actions against others eventually harm ourselves.

By focusing on understanding and truth we can stand up for what is right in a way that creates change and heals rather than hurts and divides.

For later.

Here is a healing process that's often spoke of;
"If I allow the memories to surface, to revisit, they might be too overwhelming. I don't tend to visit them often enough for the fear of being consumed."

In dealing with painful or traumatic events in my personal story I found myself stepping into a simple but effective space to constructively contain the 'flood' when allowing healthy mental and emotional processing.

Negative memories are as important to visit as our positive ones but having a safe visualisation tool navigates and manages feelings of overwhelm by temporarily setting them aside.

Here we provide ourselves with a self-protective mechanism that allows us to function with the memory rather than ignoring it or being flooded by the event.

If you find yourself sitting with an overflow of sadness, grief, exposure, distress, trauma or overwhelm when working through your memory....pop it in the box for later.

We visualise an area that resonates.

I use...
💭 A shelved or pantry type area.

☀️ Filled with warmth and life...often near the garden or open door.

📦 Take down a box and fill it with memories I wish to save for later.

📣 I declare, "that's enough for today, thank you."
And pop it back up on a high shelf.

For another day.

By doing so we don't ignore it,
we give it physical space.

It's 'seen'....but safe.
It's given a purpose.
We can control it's access.

We say 'later' instead of 'never'.

Integrating emotional processing in our daily life in a safe and healthy way moves us from our past and towards a sustainable future!

our inner world goes unfulfilled.

By reducing

Possessions
Commitments
Thoughts

we allow a greater happiness, focus, and freedom to take it's place.

By stripping away

Clutter
Distractions
Noise

we create space for meaningful experiences, better mental health, and deeper relationships.

Less is more...

✴️Intentional living: This philosophy encourages choosing quality over quantity in possessions and relationships, leading to more joy and purpose.

Grounding/Earthing - to make direct skin contact with the Earth.

Scientifically, grounding neutralises free radicals, transfers natural electrons into the body and re-balances the body's overall electrical state.

This practice is linked to the reduction of chronic inflammation, decreases stress (lowered cortisol), improves sleep, enhances blood flow, and recovers muscles faster.

You can practice grounding outdoors by walking barefoot on grass, soil, sand, or water and indoors by using grounding mats, bed sheets, or patches connected to the ground, or mains.

Benefits of grounding:

✅️ Reduced inflammation and pain: By transferring electrons, grounding can help neutralize free radicals and reduce chronic inflammation, which is linked to pain.
