☯️Regulating the Nervous System ☯️
Over in 'Rest with Sally' week 2 is underway.
Week 1 was all about bringing some calm into the chaos, and creating new habits to improve sleep.
Week 2 is all about regulating the Nervous System, with some Sally T techniques to help build resilience to stress, and activate the Parasympathtic Nervous System - your rest, digest, restore response.
Did you know your body cannot heal if it's protecting you?
If you're stuck in survival mode, constantly in a state of heightened awareness and never doing anything to down regulate, you WILL experience symptoms, either physical, mental, or both.
Think headaches, digestive upset, anxiety, brain fog, low mood, physical pain.
These are all red flags that your Nervous System is screaming SLOW DOWN! PAUSE! BREATHE!
And, did you know that a stress response is triggered within the body from doing all the GOOD things too?
Yep, even if you're 'busy' having fun, you're still in fight/flight, so it's vital you bring a little calm on the regular.
And then there's the polyvagal ladder 🪜 and if you find yourself at the bottom of that you'll experience things such as depression, burnout, no motivation and such like.
