We are closed today (Tuesday 17th March) from 1pm due to PTL.

We will reopen tomorrow morning as usual.

Protected Time for Learning (PTL) allows staff across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire and Berkshire, protected time to be released for educational sessions such as basic life support, clinical management updates and mandatory training. These half days also give us the opportunity to review departmental policies and procedures, instate new services and review the monthly feedback from patients in order to look at improvements and implement any changes.

If you require medical assistance during this time please contact NHS 111.

🌟 WE NEED YOUR VOICES! 🌟

Are you a parent, carer, or working-age patient at our practice?

We’re looking for new members to join our Patient Participation Group (PPG). We’d especially love to hear from younger patients and parents.

At the moment, a large number of our PPG members are retired patients — which is fantastic — but we want to make sure younger patients and families are represented too.

What does the PPG do?

✔ Gives feedback on appointments and access
✔ Helps improve services for patients
✔ Shapes new ideas and changes
✔ Represents the patient voice

What’s involved?

🕒 Only a few meetings per year
💻 Option to join online
😊 Friendly and informal

You don’t need medical knowledge — just your experience as a patient.

It’s Time To Talk Day, but every day should be a time to talk day. We need to be honest about mental health. Talking will help save lives. If you don’t feel like you can talk to people in your life there are many organisations you can talk to.

💉🩸Important information regarding blood tests at Cross Keys Practice🩸💉

We are aware of incorrect information circulating online suggesting that the practice is no longer providing blood tests. This is not true. Blood tests continue to be carried out at the surgery.

Over recent weeks, due to increased demand and staff absence, waiting times for blood test appointments at the practice have been longer than usual. As a result, more patients have been directed to the hospital phlebotomy service. This is an option we have always offered as part of routine care.

This approach allows for a shorter wait time for patients and means our nursing team can better manage the demand for more urgent and/or chronic illness blood tests that need to be done on site.

Rest assured, we are continuing to do blood tests at the surgery and keeping our amazing phlebotomists very busy!

🚫We can no longer accept repeat prescription requests by email.🚫

From 1st February, repeat prescriptions can only be ordered via the NHS App or by dropping your repeat prescription slip into the surgery. This change has been made to adopt a safe and efficient ordering process, in line with NHS England and our local Integrated Care Board (ICB) guidelines.

🩵How to Order Repeat Medication Using the NHS App

- Open the NHS App on your smartphone or tablet
- Log in using your NHS App details
- Tap “Request repeat prescriptions”
- Tick the medication(s) you need
- Confirm your request
That’s it! Your request is sent directly to the surgery.

💙How Do I Get the NHS App?

Step 1: Download the App

On a smartphone or tablet, go to App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android phones) and search for “NHS App” to download.

Step 2: Sign Up. You will need:

- Your NHS number (if you have it)
- An email address
- A form of photo ID (if you do not have photo ID we can provide you with a linkage key, ODS code and account ID required for sign up)
The app will guide you through each step slowly and clearly.

🩵Don’t have a smartphone or prefer paper?

That’s fine! You can still order your repeat medication by dropping a slip into either of our surgeries.
