Today, we pause with the nation for two minutes to remember and honour all those who have served and sacrificed for our freedom.

At Cross Keys, we observe this day of reflection and gratitude - remembering the courage, dedication, and resilience of the men and women of the Armed Forces, past and present.

We are especially proud to care for a number of veteran patients within our practice community, and we recognise the continued contributions and experiences they bring to us all.

❌ Myth: β€œThe flu jab gives you the flu.”
βœ… Fact: The flu vaccine can't give you the flu because it does not contain live viruses.

While it cannot cause the flu, you may experience mild side effects like a sore arm, slight temperature, or aching muscles for a couple of days. The nasal spray vaccine for children contains live but weakened viruses, which also cannot cause the flu.

It is possible to get the flu soon after being vaccinated if you were exposed to the virus before the vaccine had time to work, which takes about two weeks. As well as this, there's still a chance you might get flu after getting vaccinated, but it's likely to be milder and not last as long.

Are you still not sure on how to use Klinik? πŸ€”

We are holding one final education session in November. The purpose of this is to help patients understand how to use Klinik independently. The session will start with a demonstration of Klinik, followed by a Q&A opportunity. We anticipate this lasting approximately 1 hour.

Following this, patients are welcomed to stay for longer if they require help with their personal mobile devices, but please be prepared to wait.

This session will be held in our studio, upstairs in Cross Keys House (Risborough) by appointment only due to limited space and seating. Please contact reception to book.

Perimenopause is one of the three stages of menopause. It’s when menopause symptoms start but your periods haven’t stopped.
For many women, these symptoms can affect daily life – from energy and mood to relationships and work. They can start earlier for some, lasting from a few months to over a decade which is why recognising the signs and getting support matters.

Menopause and Perimenopause symptoms can include depression, anxiety, mood swings, brain fog, hot flushes, vaginal dryness, difficulty staying asleep, fatigue, loss of libido, joint pain and irregular periods.

The main medicine treatment for menopause and perimenopause symptoms is hormone replacement therapy (HRT), which replaces the hormones that are at low levels. HRT is a safe and effective treatment for most going through menopause and perimenopause. The main benefit of HRT is that it can help relieve most menopause and perimenopause symptoms.

At Cross Keys we offer a Woman's Health Clinic covering HRT & Contraception. If you have any queries about Menopause and initiating HRT, this clinic is perfect for you! This service is by appointment only so please contact reception to book.

If you provide unpaid care for a loved one, you have a legal right to an assessment of your needs by your local authority.

It’s your chance to talk about:
- the type of care you are providing and the time it takes

With only a week away on Wednesday, 29th October 2025, we’re reaching out to ask for your support in making this year’s campaign impactful.

Every year, Cross Keys Practice choose a charity to raise funds for through practice lunches, social events, and games. This year we have been raising funds for Different Strokes, a charity for younger stroke survivors, as it holds a special place in one of our staff members hearts.

Hannah, our IT Support & Digital Content Lead, suffered an ischaemic stroke in 2021 aged 27 while working for us as a phlebotomist. There were no warning signs prior to her stroke, and she was fit and healthy, enjoying the summer holidays with her 2 children. After experiencing a sudden facial droop, slurred speech, weakness on one of side of her body, and loss of coordination, she immediately caught the attention of her 2 young children who bravely called for an ambulance. Following this, Different Strokes provided vital support, age-appropriate information and perspective when Hannah felt she didn't know where to turn during her recovery.

Stroke is the single biggest cause of disability in the UK, but it's not always the visible disabilities that stroke survivors must contend with. Debilitating fatigue, cognitive problems, and personality changes can be a lifelong challenge, preventing survivors from returning to work or bringing up a young family. Different Strokes have personal experience of life after stroke. Most of their staff, volunteers and trustees are stroke survivors, family members, or have a close personal connection to stroke. They recognise that younger stroke survivors and family members are the experts in stroke recovery and rehabilitation.

πŸ’₯That's a wrap on our Saturday Flu & Covid Clinics!πŸ’₯

Firstly, thank you to our team who worked their socks off over 3 weekends vaccinating 2878 patients! We could not provide such a streamlined and efficient service for our patients without them.

Secondly, thank you to our patients who have provided positive feedback and kind words such as:

"The surgery was packed and it was extremely well co-ordinated. Well done everyone!"

"Your system for dealing with a mass flu jab event was very efficient. I was in and out in a flash and the nurse giving the injection still had time to treat me as a person with a smile and friendly comment. "

"It’s always been a great service and this was no exception. Thank you! "

"I was so impressed with the amazingly slick operation. So well organised you must all be so proud. The reception team were positioned to guide and answer questions and I think I was in and out in approximately 3 minutes!! But I still felt cared for, brilliant job guys thank you."

"Every member of staff was busy dealing with the surgery full of people who were there to receive their flu or covid jabs, yet they had time to speak calmly to every one, well done all."

Comments like these are always passed on to our staff and provide such a boost in mood, so thank you! πŸ₯°πŸ€—

COMPLETING KLINIK FOR SOMEONE ELSE?
β€ΌοΈβŒ DO NOT SIGN IN USING YOUR NHS APP LOGIN βŒβ€ΌοΈ

We are receiving an increasing number of appointment requests for the incorrect patient due to being logged in to Klinik using the NHS app login feature. This means Klinik auto-fills patient information of the person logged in such as name and date of birth and will not allow it to be changed to someone else.

⬇️Please read the below information carefully and SHARE⬇️

Please DO NOT sign into klinik using your NHS app login if you are completing the form on someones behalf (for example a spouse, child or parent). Instead, please click the purple continue button. There is no need for any login details to be entered this way.

If you have signed in previously it may remember you for future klinik forms (even if you click the purple continue button), so please double check you aren't logged in before continuing to complete the request.

To check if you are logged in, and want to log out, there will be a small bit of text in the top right corner that says "Authenticated: NHS Login - Log out". Click "Log out" and this will confirm you are then logged out of your NHS app login and will allow you to submit a request on someone else's behalf correctly.
