To mark the occasion, residents and colleagues at The Manors came together for a moving Armistice Day service.

The service was led by Minister Gwyn from St Mary Magdalene Church in Prudhoe and residents were joined by 25 pupils from Years 3 and 4 at Adderlane Academy.

The service was filled with heartfelt moments, from readings by Manors' resident Pam and the children, to a beautiful rendition of We’ll Meet Again by Vera Lynn, with everyone singing along. Colleagues and residents all held a poppy for reflection, later combining them into wreaths that the children laid at the front in a touching tribute.

After observing the two minutes’ silence, everyone stood together to sing the National Anthem. The morning ended with refreshments and lovely conversations between generations. One resident, Shirley, shared stories with two young girls of her father who served in WWI showing the importance of older generations passing on their memories.

Everyone is very welcome to join tomorrow morning for a short remembrance service to mark Armistice Day. It starts at 10:30am, with us joining the nation at 11am for the 2 minutes silence. Enjoy a free drink and biscuit with us afterwards.
