Sarah Spearing is a fully qualified massage therapist specializing in sports massage, remedial and vocal massage. After completing my professional dance training in ballet, and the performing arts I had a career as a professional dancer, performing nationally and internationally with tour groups and theater companies. I am still very involved in the dance industry. I teach lyrical dance at the Yorkshire dance center and i am director and choreographer of UDC a local dance agency providing dancers and show production all across the UK and Worldwide. My dance background gives me a great understanding into the workings of the body from a performing artists perspective and the anxiety that can be caused from injury. One of the ways to overcome sporting wear and tear and help prevent sporting injuries is through a sports massage. When you're stressed your body can display signs such as aching joints, shoulder pain, back ache, tense neck muscles and muscle spasms. Strenuous sports activity and overworking the body can cause injuries to occur. A way to help alleviate this stress is via a sports or remedial massage. Sports massage can help with soft tissue injuries such as leg sprains and strains. The growth and repair of tissues are accelerated by sufficient circulation in the area of injury due to massage. Damaged cells, scar tissue and adhesions left after injury can all be removed by deep tissue massage. It is effective for relieving muscle tension rebalancing the musculo-skeletal system. A constant build up of tension can lead to stresses on muscles and joints and their connective tissues. Massage will also help release the tension from the pain in your neck, your aching shoulders or your back, help you relax, unwind and recharge your batteries.
