There's been some encouraging news in Alzheimer’s research!
A recent study funded by Alzheimer's Society has identified a new contender in the fight against dementia: a shingles vaccine could potentially be repurposed to help treat or prevent Alzheimer's disease.

The shingles vaccine is already known to be safe and requires only a maximum of two doses and research now suggests that this can reduce the chance of developing dementia by 16%

This doesn’t mean we have a confirmed new treatment yet — more research and clinical trials are needed. As the experts involved stressed, drug-repurposing offers hope, but we must wait for solid trial results before changing treatment approaches.

At Caring Folk we believe in keeping up to date with dementia research — because every bit of hope matters for the people we support, and for families navigating care.

🌈 Bright Shirts, Big Hearts! 👕💙

At Caring Folk, we believe in making a difference—not just in the lives of the people we care for, but in our wider community too. That's why our team recently came together for a brilliantly fun (and slightly outrageous!) "Shameful Shirt Day" in support of the incredible LimbBo Foundation UK 💪

Our amazing carers turned up to work in the loudest, most garish, gloriously awful shirts they could find. It’s not every day you see carers turning up in shirts loud enough to stop traffic—but they did it with huge smiles and even bigger hearts.

The LimbBo Foundation supports children with limb differences and their families, helping them feel confident, capable, and celebrated for exactly who they are.

A huge thank you to everyone who got involved, donated, or just cheered us on.—you looked fantastically terrible, and we couldn’t be prouder! 🧡

Do you or your loved one have Telecare installed in case of a fall or an emergency?
If so, the change from analogue to digital phone lines can affect how Telecare works. To ensure that you're not affected, please call your landline provider to let them know that there is someone in the property who relies on this service.

We test pendants for everyone that we care for regularly, but making this call can help us to ensure that our lovely Service Users are kept safe.

Only by doing this do we manage to deliver truly person centred support.
