Our afternoon tea is taking place on Saturday 14th March a great opportunity to get together with family and friends and enjoy our delicious afternoon tea. The price is £12 each (residents are free) but all must be booked in advance.
Please speak to a member of the activity team or pop in at the office.

A friendly reminder that on Friday afternoon we are inviting staff residents families and the local community to come along and help us celebrate! We have live music good company and a delicious buffet! The party starts at 2pm!

Today Maddy came to the home to run her arts and crafts class. We used air drying clay to create trinket bowls which will be painted at the next session. Each resident started off with a ball of clay and moulded it in to a dish shape before adding the embellishment and patterns to it. We can’t wait to paint them next week.

Today was gardening day at Hutton Manor, armed with garden rakes and sweeping brushes the activity team and residents began the big spring garden tidy up!
We filled bags of leaves and rubbish, rescued 10 snails and had a lovely day laughing and enjoying the fresh air!

Yesterday we excercised the body and the mind as we played the parachute game!
We used our skills to get the baby narwhal to its Mum! The residents couldn’t stop laughing as the teddy flipped from person to person. We replaced the teddy with a ball and tried to make the ball go in a circle, this part of the activity was to improve dexterity, use concentration and team work. Finally we ditch the parachute and played a gentle game of badminton. Each person took it in turns to hit the shuttlecock afterwards we threw the ball to each other and asked a question. Not only did this mean we learnt lots of new facts about each other, but it also exercised the brain, asking some tricky questions triggering memories and most of all having fun.

Church visits, choir practice, puppy cuddles, birthdays, arts and crafts and much much more! We have activities running all day every day to make sure the residents have plenty to enjoy.

🏆 1 Day to Go – St Mary’s Care Home Awards! 🏆

The wait is nearly over! Tomorrow evening in Durham, we’ll be coming together to honour the outstanding individuals and teams who make St Mary’s Care Homes so special.

What makes this event so important is that nominations are put forward by our residents, their families and our colleagues, recognising those who go above and beyond every day.

Rooted in our shared values of empathy, respect, teamwork, happiness and approachability, the awards are a chance to recognise the dedication and heart shown across our homes every day.

We’re looking forward to celebrating our finalists and enjoying a fantastic evening with everyone involved.

A relaxing weekend at Hutton Manor, reading the morning newspaper, a stroll through the park, coffee and cake with friends at the local cafe then crafts and dominoes in the afternoon. All our activities are person centred to ensure we provide the best possible environment for our residents. 💙💛

On Thursday to mark all this week’s cultural events, included the start of lent Chinese new year and Ramadan we held a culture day.
At the “all about me” activity we picked facts or questions from the hat to learn about other religions and traditions or to question our own beliefs.
We learnt so many interesting facts we never knew, which gave us a better understanding of other’s traditions beliefs and cultures.
In our afternoon fitness session we looked at dance from around the world, including Greek Russian Chinese and line dancing. We ended with some impromptu Morris dancing, even roping in our home Manager Zaneta!
The residents have commented on how much they enjoyed the whole day and have asked to have a weekly session to discuss other religions, you’re never too old to learn something new! 💙💛
