After feedback at the family and residents meeting, the residents had said they wanted to feel useful and help around the home.

We did!

As a result we have started to include residents in day to day tasks around the home, including helping to set up and tidy away after activities. Helping with paperwork and distributing activity planners and newsletters, delivering mail and general tidying around the home.
This has give many residents a purpose and a feeling of usefulness and independence that they felt they were lacking.
Caths really enjoyed taking care of the Guinea pigs and helping to sort out our craft cupboard this week.

Our Scottish themed week continued with a mock Highland Games, and making the Scottish classic Cranachan. Residents took part in tossing the caber with Anita’s throw taking the win! The residents enjoyed the cranachan, even our staff thought the Scottish treat was delicious! The residents have thoroughly enjoyed Scottish week, we can’t wait to see where else we go on our round the world trip!

To mark international pet day yesterday we held our very own puppy party with the activity staffs puppies Zarla the French bulldog and Stanley the chihuahua!
The puppies visited the residents in their rooms then we gathered together for puppy cuddles and lots of treats.
The dogs had a lovely day being fussed and the residents enjoyed the pet therapy. They’ll be coming back again to visit the home soon.

We were on starters orders today as the residents gathered around the television ready for the horse race of the year! The Grand National. The staff and residents all took part in a sweep stake, so armed with information and photos of their horse and jockeys the residents took to their seats in anticipation for the race to start.
Jeff’s horse led while we had a few horses fall at the first hurdles, on they went with Tanya and Brenda’s neck and neck, but right on the final furlong Manager Zaneta’s horse crossed the line in first place!

We had the pleasure of welcoming Walk on the wild side last week for an interactive animal experience! They animals were amazing we learnt so many facts and got to handle them. We can’t wait for their next!!
