At least 1 in 7 children have experienced child abuse and/or neglect in the past year, and this is likely an underestimate.

There is hope. Children can and do recover from traumatic events, and you can play an essential role in their recovery.

This week is , organised by our friends at Mental Health Foundation. 💚 This year's theme is anxiety.

Feeling anxious can happen when we feel nervous, frightened, or uneasy about something such as starting a new school, waiting for exam results or friendship issues. It’s perfectly normal to feel this way from time to time, but sometimes our anxiety gets the better of us and it can start getting in the way of the things we enjoy. 😟

Hello. My name is Allison Bedford and I am an Advanced Drawing and Talking Practitioner with experience in emotional literacy and emotional coaching. I have worked with children for over 14 years and have a passion in ensuring that their mental health needs are considered, as well as their educational needs. However, this service is open to all ages from 5 years and above.

Life's Umbrella is my new business offering predominantly Drawing and Talking Therapy but also emotional coaching.

Drawing and Talking is a therapeutic, attachment-based intervention that complements the work of other specialist therapies. It is a non-confrontational, gentle intervention that has been proven to help individuals deal with the processing of pain or trauma. As an Advanced Practitioner, I am qualified to deliver both Drawing and Talking and Sand Play Therapy.
