Easter is almost upon us, for many of us this means sweet treats, spring in the air & a long weekend to spend relaxing & enjoying some extra time for ourselves.
Allow yourself to take some time just for you, to relax, to unwind, to reset this easter weekend.
Remember, self care looks different for each of us, it's about finding what works for you. Anything you intentionally do to make yourself feel better & more balanced is an act of self care.
For anyone who needs a little inspiration, here are some simple ideas to help you on your way ❤️
🐣Rest
It can be tempting to squeeze things in when we have time off, & it’s understandable because our lives are so busy now. While visiting family & friends or catching up with your hobbies is great, having a few days without any plans allows you to relax and truly reset.
🐣 Take a walk in nature, take the time to appreciate the sounds & sights of spring at one of the many beautiful spots we are so lucky to have around us.
Walking can help improve our mood, improve our physical health & reduce feelings of stress.
🐣 Practice mindfullness
Mindfulness is a term we hear a lot these days. Unlike taking a bath, meditating, or going out for brunch, mindfulness is there for you around the clock. Whether we're washing up, at work or going for a walk... focus on one of your senses.
Allow yourself to feel the cool breeze dancing over your skin, or the weight of your body on the soles of your feet.
Inhale the aromas as you pass by your local coffee shops, or even the fresh bursts of your freshly washed clothes as you get dressed in the morning.
By simply focussing on the task at hand or a specific sensation, you’re able to soak up the present, without worrying about the past or future.
🐣Try Journaling
Even if it’s just for five minutes before bed, pick up a pen and explore how you’re feeling. At first, we might not feel like we have anything to write. In which case, simply write ‘I do not know what to write’, until thoughts, feelings & reflections start to pop up. It can be extremely cathartic, you might just surprise yourself with what (& how much) comes up.
🐣Exercise
Our hectic lifestyles can often leave us without the time to move our bodies in ways that we need to. So, over easter, have a go at a fitness challenge - whether you choose yoga, pilates, running, or weight training, there are lots of options for us, start small & with something you'll enjoy.
Whatever you do this easter, make some time for yourself. You're worth it ❤️
