Promoting intergenerational connections is something each of our homes takes pride in 👏

From toddler groups to nursery visits, our residents are never short of opportunities to build bonds with the younger generation. The benefits are clear — not only in the bright smiles and reduced feelings of isolation among residents, but also in the confidence and communication skills we see blossoming in the young people who visit 🥰

Lavender Hills' trick-or-treat event with children from their weekly toddler group was a perfect example of how intergenerational activities can be both fun and adventurous for everyone involved 🍬😃

We were delighted to see Care Home Magazine feature Langtree Care Home’s beautiful artwork on their website 🤩

Each piece, supplied by The Fine Art Company, was carefully selected to bring the home to life, providing talking points, subtle navigational cues, and a sense of calm.

Every area of the home follows its own unique theme, telling a story through design, and the artwork helps to tie these narratives together seamlessly 🖼️

Since their very first week together at Langtree Care Home, Mary and Elaine have been inseparable 🤞

Their friendship has been truly heartwarming to watch grow, with each of them bringing out the best in the other 🥰

As we said goodbye to summer and welcomed in the cooler months, there were plenty of goings-on across the group last month 👋

👀 Take a look back at some of our October highlights:

🎤 Langtree hosted its first Alzheimer's Society Singing for the Brain session, bringing residents together over a shared love of music 🎶

🎵 Worthington Lake residents were treated to a trip to The Victoria Hall, Bolton for the filming of BBC Songs of Praise's Christmas Special 🎄

🗣️ Teenagers from Wigan Youth Zone interviewed some of Langtree's residents (watch the video here: https://youtu.be/WHAbOBCLov0) ▶️

🎥 We continued our 'Who Says' video series, tackling stereotypes about care home environments 🤔

Last week, Langtree hosted its first Standish Wellness Hub. The hub provides the Activities Coordinators across Standish an opportunity to get together every few months and discuss ideas and opportunities 🏘️

The meeting was also a great chance for Langtree's Lifestyle and Enrichment Coordinator, Sabrina, to meet everyone for the first time and hear their feedback on what's worked well in their homes 🤝👂

On Friday, Norley Hall staff and residents took part in Breast Cancer Now's Wear it Pink Day to help raise money for life-changing research into breast cancer 🩷

The home hosted a raffle, with all of the proceeds from the ticket sales going to the charity, enjoyed some tasty treats and wrapped the day up with a good boogie 🎟️💃

Well done to everyone at the home who made it a day to remember whilst raising money for a good cause! 👏

Worthington Lake residents have been hard at work recently creating their Edward Scissorhands Scarecrow for the NT Rufford Old Hall Scarecrow Festival ✂️

Last week, they stopped by to pay Edward a visit after he went on display along with all the other fantastic creations. Of course, they had to take a stroll around to check out the other scarecrows 🚶

This is such a lovely way for residents to get involved with the local community and create something they can be proud of 🥰

You can check out the Scarecrow Festival from 17 Oct to 2 Nov, 10.30am - 4.30pm (closed Wednesdays and Thursdays) 👀

Our newest home at the Standish Care Village, Langtree, benefits from having its sister homes, Worthington Lake and Lakeside right next door 🏘️

Not only is this great for enabling residents and staff to build bonds across our homes, but it also benefits the wider community, allowing us to host larger events and bring even more people together 🤩

Worthington Lake residents Mary and Sue recently had the opportunity to attend the filming of the BBC Songs of Praise Christmas Special 🤩

Of course, no outing is complete without a trip to a cafe on the way for a hot drink and a bite to eat ☕️🥪

Reflecting on the experience, Mary said: “We really enjoyed it, it was a great atmosphere and the singing was brilliant." 🎤🎶

Millennium care have been selected for parliamentary review 2017/18 and have previously won many awards.
