ChiroClinic

ChiroClinic ChiroClinic is a chiropractic clinic based in Ramsey (Isle of Man) and is run by Dr Annabelle Westbu Hello, I'm Dr Annabelle Westbury.

If you are looking for a chiropractor who will greet you with a warm welcome, who will take the time to fully investigate your condition and then fully explain it to you in terms you can actually understand, and who will tailor your treatment specifically to you, then look no further. I've been working as chiropractor in Ramsey since 2009, after completing my 5 year Masters degree in Chiropractic at the Anglo-European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth as well as another subsequent year of training to obtain my Doctor of Chiropractic. I have years of experience in treating many conditions and can help with a variety of complaints, including:

- Neck, shoulder and arm pain
- Back and leg pain
- Headaches arising from the neck
- Prevention of migraines
- Sports injuries
- Postural problems
- Hip, knee, ankle and foot pain
- Osteoarthritis

As a chiropractor, I am constantly trying to further my knowledge and consequently, I am also trained in deep tissue massage, dry needling (a type of acupuncture), kinesio-taping and the treatment of pregnancy related issues and infants. I am a fully registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC), which is an independent statutory body established by parliament to regulate chiropractors in the UK and Isle of Man to ensure the standards of practice and the safety of patients undergoing chiropractic care. So whether you are looking for a quick fix for your pain, a check-up or more long term maintenance care for optimal health, I am here to help. Hopefully you have found everything you need to know about ChiroClinic on my page. If you have any queries or would like to make an appointment, please contact me on 07624 433777 or email me at chirocliniciom@gmail.com.

27/07/2022 - Clinic Update:

Hi everyone! 👋 It’s been another couple of months, so I thought it was about time to post an update for you all again.

The last few months have been a bit of a rollercoaster🎢 . I’ve gone from having a career-ending injury to finally beginning seeing some light at the end of the tunnel 🙌. The improvement has thankfully continued, even though it’s been frustratingly slow and very up/down. I am however, still suffering with some ongoing nerve injury, pain, weakness and sensation loss.

Over the past few weeks, I’ve been learning some new techniques to incorporate into my practice, to compensate for these ongoing issues, and over the last couple of weeks in particular, I’ve even felt well enough to trial the odd appointment. However, this has demonstrated a few important points to me:

- I can only manage a maximum of 2 appointments in one day, with several hours of rest in between them;
- I can only do a limited amount of muscular work and I can’t currently use any massage machines to help with this;
- I need to go at a bit of a slower pace than normal and I’ve lost a lot of stamina;
- I can only plan 1-2 days in advance as my pain levels are still quite variable.

Despite this, I feel I’m now ready to move into the phase of managing my recovery alongside resuming some normality. Which means…

…🥁🥁🥁…

…that after several months, I’m finally beginning a phased return to work 🥳.

As you can probably imagine, having to take the last 5 months off has lead to a massive backlog of appointments 😰. You’ve all been so amazingly patient over the last few months. THANK YOU! I really really mean it!!

I just need you all to be patient for a little bit longer🙏. It’s simply going to take time to get everyone back in again, especially as I can’t see as many of you in a day/week as I used to.

I will be contacting everyone individually. Please don’t worry if that’s not straight away. Everyone is on a list and I won’t forget any of you! I promise! Hopefully you can understand that I need to prioritise those that normally come more frequently first. But, if you’re really struggling, please let me know and I’ll do my best to see you sooner.

For now, hang in there. I’ll be in touch. Both Harley 🐕 and I can’t wait to see you all soon!!! Xx

17/05/2022 - Clinic Update:

Hi everyone, thought I’d just put a little update out there for those of you wondering what’s going on 🤔 …

So, I had an MRI at the end of March that revealed I have quite a severe disc herniation in my neck, which has unfortunately compressed not just a nerve but also my spinal cord 😫. It’s a complete bummer but at least it totally explains why working became so debilitatingly painful.

Luckily, I’ve managed to avoid any surgical intervention 🥳. However, due to the position and nature of it, it’s taking a while to heal, which is very typical of a disc disorder.

It’s been a tough couple of months, both physically and mentally, and I’ve been doing everything possible to speed up the healing process - including lots of chiropractic treatment!

Despite it still being very up and down, I’m finally starting to see some signs of improvement 🥳. On a good day, I can now manage a small walk with the dog 🐕 🙌. But, I’m still not able to tolerate any fast movements, jolts, bumps or weight, so I’m frustratingly still not ready to return to work yet 😔.

I really can’t wait to get back to seeing you all again and the plan is that when I can tolerate some “normal activities” again, I will slowly and cautiously return to work. It’s at this point that I will contact everyone on my list individually, to re-organise an appointment again.

I’m still unsure as to when that may be at present, but the hope of that day finally coming is currently what’s keeping me going. Daytime TV has a lot to answer for!! 😂 Yes, those are tears of insanity.

Once again, I really appreciated your patience. It’s also been amazing how many of you have sent your well wishes 🥰. So, thank you.

I really hope you are all hanging in there. If you are struggling though, please contact me (📱433777) and I’ll be happy to offer some details of my tried and tested colleagues that may be able to help in the interim.

21/03/2022 - Clinic Update - Temporary Closure

Unfortunately, after struggling with a work-induced spinal injury over the last several weeks 🤕, I’ve had to take the frustrating decision to temporarily close the clinic for an indefinite period of time, to enable my recovery.

It’s not a decision I’ve taken lightly and I’m so sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

I will be individually contacting everyone that currently has an appointment booked, so please don’t worry if you haven’t heard directly from me yet - I’ll be in touch shortly.

I really appreciate your understanding at this time. I can’t wait to be back running on all cylinders again, helping all of you lovely people. There’s definitely one of us who’s enjoying a bit more sofa time though 🐕😴 xx

It's finally time for a much needed break! ChiroClinic will now be closed until the 11th October whilst I take some time off to rest and recharge my batteries. I'll be avoiding looking at my phone for the duration so I can properly switch off, so please don't think I'm rude if I don't reply until I'm back. See you on the other side.... x

Unfortunately, Harley has been furloughed again during the lockdown, but he’s definitely enjoying the longer walks to make up for it 🐕 . In case you’re missing him, here’s a slow-mo of him in stick hunting mode, in aid of “National Puppy Day” ... he might be 5 but he’s definitely still a puppy at heart!

✅ Skiing in 2021 ⛷😁.

Can now officially say my clinic has “ski in/ski out” facilities too, after skiing down from the Gooseneck earlier. Gotta love a snow day!! 😎

🚨 COVID-19 Update 🚨

In light of the government guidance released today (Tuesday 5th Jan), I’d like to reassure my patients that, at the current time, I’m intending on keeping ChiroClinic OPEN and carrying on with my appointments as planned.

However, if you have an appointment booked and you have either:
😷 been told to self-isolate,
😷 are living with someone who is self-isolating,
😷 have developed symptoms of Covid-19 (a fever, a new, persistent cough, and/or a loss of taste or smell)
😷 have been in contact with someone showing the symptoms of Covid-19,
😷 or if you just do not feel comfortable attending,
then please let me know with as much notice as possible and I will happily postpone your appointment for the time being (obviously with no extra charge).

I will be making a few changes with regards to my practice, so please read and acknowledge your reminder message before attending your appointment.

This may be subject to change depending on how things progress, so please follow this page for any updates.

For now, stay safe and please pop me a message if you have any questions.

Wishing all my lovely patients, both past and present, a very 🎄MERRY CHRISTMAS🎄 and sending all my best wishes for a happy, and most importantly, healthy 2021.

I am now closed until Monday 4th Jan, but please do let me know if you’re suffering with any urgent problems over the festive period, as it’s not as if I have a long way to commute these days!

With love, Annabelle, “Father Bonejangles” (who is currently scoffing the mince pies to ensure he has enough energy for his impending busiest night of the year) and Harley of course, who’s busy enjoying the fire, as per usual 🙄🐕🔥 xx
