These one-to-one sessions gently explore both the physical aspects of your birth and the emotional impact it may have had. Whether your experience was straightforward, unexpected, or traumatic, you will be listened to with care, compassion, and clinical expertise.

As a Private Obstetric Consultant, I really value the opportunity to connect with other specialists who are passionate about supporting women throughout pregnancy and the postnatal period. April and I spent time discussing birth trauma, the importance of recognising and supporting postnatal mental health, and how valuable antenatal education can be in helping women feel informed, prepared and confident about birth.

Mother’s Day is a meaningful day for many, but we know it can hold different emotions for different people.

As an obstetrician, it’s a privilege to care for women through pregnancy, birth, and the early days of parenthood. It’s also a reminder that the path to motherhood isn’t always simple or straightforward.

Today we celebrate mothers in all their forms — those holding their children close, those expecting, those who became mothers in ways that may not be visible to the world, and those who are still on the journey.

We also hold space for the women and families who have experienced loss or who are navigating fertility challenges. Your stories matter, and you are not alone.

On this Mother’s Day, we recognize the many different paths to motherhood and the strength it takes to walk them. 💐
