Homeward Bound After a Wonderful Trip to Lincoln
Just heading home after a fantastic time in Lincoln. I had the pleasure of exploring a few venues for future events and was truly impressed by the warm welcome and beautiful spaces.
Thank you to everyone who made this trip so special—it was lovely to connect with family, both old and new. I’m now excited for what’s ahead and looking forward to spending New Year at home.

Christmas Dinner Blessing
As we gather around this table,
May our hearts be full of gratitude for the love that surrounds us—both seen and unseen.
Let us remember those who can’t be with us in person, but whose spirits are never far from our hearts.

Bless this food, the hands that prepared it, and the memories we create tonight.

Christmas Eve Reflections
It’s Christmas Eve, and the shops are a whirlwind of last-minute preparations for tomorrow’s feast. Here in Lincoln, we’re keeping things simple—no fuss, just a laidback day, trusting the gas oven will work its magic when it counts.
I know the holidays can be especially hard for those who are grieving, caring for loved ones who are unwell, or carrying heavy worries. Please remember, you’re not alone. Your angels are watching over you. Let them help—ask, and you shall receive.
Sometimes, it’s the simple things that matter most. Wishing you all peace, comfort, and gentle moments this Christmas Eve.

Stepping into Christmas past—with a modern twist!
We’ve just landed in Lincoln for the holidays, and our home for the week is a true 60s time capsule. Everywhere you look: vintage charm, groovy décor, and enough retro vibes to make you wonder if the Beatles might pop round for tea. Well… except for the giant Smart TV and WiFi.
The house is quirky, and the power sockets are limited. However, the real adventure is the retro Gas Cooker. So here I am, frantically Googling “gas mark 4” and hoping for culinary miracles. If dinner turns out edible, I’ll count it as a Christmas miracle worthy of its own carol.
Wandering through the house, I’m swept right back to my childhood. Bookcases everywhere, stacked with titles and a rather large collection of National Geographic. In the room my adult son’s will be sleeping in, bunk beds, (he will have is own moments with that) I spotted Dr Seuss’ Oh, the Places You’ll Go!—I had to laugh, convinced the spirit world is keeping me on my toes (and maybe reminding me to keep my sense of humour intact).
Then, out of nowhere, I found an annual from 1978 and suddenly, time stopped. That was the year after my father died, and our family was spending Christmas in a new house. I remembered how tough that year was—money was tight, gifts were few, and our hearts were heavy. It might have been one of our hardest holidays. But as I look around this quirky house, seeing all the nods to the past, I find comfort in the gentle presence of Kevin, who’s having his own quiet moments.
Peeking out the bedroom window, I spotted an old Methodist Church—another little sign from spirit. My father, in life, was a Methodist minister. As I glanced, I felt his reassuring presence. It was going to be ok.
First Christmas away, and I suspect there’ll be plenty more “firsts” as this year wraps up and the next one begins. The little tree left by our host brings a twinkle to the living room, and the pot belly stove (if I can figure it out) promises proper Christmas warmth.
I feel blessed to be here with family, old and new.
Funny how the past sneaks up on us in the most unexpected places—sometimes with a wink and a bit of vintage chaos.
How grateful I am for these moments as we, as a family, make new memories.
