Any massage stimulates the nervous system, improves the venous flow return of blood, increases oxygen into the tissues which, in turn provides nutrients & whisks away metabolic waste & increases microcirculation.
However, in facial massage as well as all of the above, our aim is to fight against gravity. We aim to retrain the muscles of the face, based on the concept of muscle memory. Basically, if a muscle performs a certain movement over & over it remembers it.
Our face is very expressive – our everyday expressions – when we frown, squint or relax our jaw are training our facial muscles into remembering those actions & expressions.
Massage can stimulate collagen production. By working deeply on the face, we are creating microtrauma, which is healed by the inflammatory process – a laying down of new collagen.
