The Zoe Health App
My findings on trying the Zoe personalised nutrition app!
Here The Oaks Studio we are always trying to find new ways to improve our health.
Health is the result of individual responsibility- choosing healthy over non-healthy.
This short video is on my own personal experience using the Zoe Health App.
For me the Zoe does NOT take into account the use of Stabilisers and other harmful additives that are in foods.
The other thing that doesn’t sit right is the green light to Red Wine and Caffeinated Coffee.
This is because the app is suppose to level your energy levels by controlling your sugar spike….it is very controversial to state that up to 5 cups of caffeinated coffee is okay -
as the caffeine high and slump has the same effect on your energy levels. (As with sugar spikes).
Alcohol is a poison, so not matter what it’s not a good idea to put poison in our bodies. There are other ways of getting antioxidants into our body / Example Celery juice.
Let me try and break this down the way I see it.
1. Everything needs energy to survive, including us? Energy is not only the basis of existence, it is the fuel that makes everything in our lives real and possible.
2. Where does our energy come from? Energy comes from our cells.
3. Our cells need 3 things to survive.
Firstly oxygen is the source of all energy in the body. This energy in turn drives the metabolic process from elimination of waste, respiration, circulation and digestion.
Secondly water is the most abundant substance in the body. Inside cells specifically, water is used for the breakdown of substances, as a medium for chemical reactions and for diffusion of substances.
Thirdly cells need the ability to eliminate its own waste.
So what’s the problem with caffeine and alcohol?
Between them, they can cause dehydration and reduce blood flow to our cells, in-particularity your brain. Alcohol is adding to your waste.
So basically the 3 things that effect our cells - Oxygen - water and waste is all effected in a negative way by caffeine and alcohol.
Also if consumed before you go to sleep both caffeine and alcohol will have a negative effect on your sleep which to me over turns any health benefits a cup of caffeinated coffee or red wine have on our health. Not to mention they both raise our blood pressure.
The other thing is both these drugs are addictive and I think the Zoe is giving out the wrong message!
My advice would be eat whole foods and stay away from processed foods. Try to stick to drinking water and add some fresh lemon in there are a grain of Celtic salt. Keep a Journal on what you are eating and how you react to the foods you are consuming both physically and mentally.
Remember we are all different, what works for someone else my not necessarily work for you.
But for me I’m not convinced the Zoe is personalised.
Yes it gives you awareness and helps you build healthier habits in some areas, but other dangerous additives are not taken into account.
The results for the test I originally took where interesting and helpful, but I’m not convinced.
I’d love to hear anyone else’s experience on using the Zoe?
