Autumn can be such a lovely time of the year for beautiful, woodland walks but that's not always an accessible option for everyone.
So autumn, can feel damp, cold and dark as the winter nights set in.
What can you do to look after your wellbeing?
- Make the most of the dry days - if your mobility is limited and that wet ground covered in leaves worry you, then keep an eye on that weather forecast and try and get out on the better days!
- To help our sleep, daylight (not lightbulbs) is the best thing for our circadian rhythms, so even if you just stand by the back door for a few minutes or step outside your back door, this is good for you!
-Layer up to keep warm - as it starts to get colder, we need to keep warm but if the heating costs concern you, then hot water bottles, blankets, warm slippers (if you are at risk of falls, then getting slipper advice may be helpful) and hot drinks can help also.
-Don't allow yourself to get socially isolate this winter - these months can feel more challenging for our mental health so booking in dates to see friends and family can give us things to look forward to and keep us socially active. Day centres, church/village hall clubs can be really useful in this time of year so we don't get lonely!
