JO G Therapy

JO G Therapy My name is Jo and I am an Integrative Therapeutic Counsellor based in Rayleigh Hi, my name is Joanne and i am a qualified therapeutic counsellor.

When life throws us challenges it can be overwhelming, making it difficult to see through the muddied waters. Having a friendly, non-judgemental ear to listen and help us through troublesome times can be invaluable. I am here to help you in those times, to listen, to guide and encourage your own abilities and help you find your way back to a happier you. Throughout my working life I have supported adults with learning disabilities with varying needs, working alongside and supporting their families and caregivers. I work with children and young people, adults and older people in different capacities with practical and emotional support. I am an integrative counsellor, meaning I have experience of a range of therapeutic approaches and models, which I can draw from depending on each persons needs. I am also a creative counsellor and am able to incorporate elements of play and art into the therapeutic process, encouraging freedom to explore through creativity. This process can be beneficial for adults as well as children and teens. I am a member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am bound by their Code of Ethics and practice. If you are struggling with challenging aspects of life i encourage you to seek support, i am here if you decide you would like counselling so please call, message or email to begin your journey.

Autumns coming! I love the autumn but do find the shift from summer to the colder, darker months a bit of a jolt 🥴 This could be partly due to daylight hours shortening. This change can disrupt our internal body clock – our Circadian clock. This mechanism tells our body it's time for bed or time to wake up! It works with other parts of the body like hormone release, metabolism, hormone and temperature regulation. We produce less seratonin when there's less sunlight which can affect our mood.
Ways to help ourselves are to connect with people, spend time with family, friends or like minded people. Get moving! physical activity stimulates the release of endorphins which can help counteract depressive symptoms. Eat well! Think 'Food and Mood'... good nutrition is so important for our mental health, tuck into that cake after some fruit😉 my go to healthy sweet treat is apple with peanut butter!
Be kind to others, be kind to yourselves 💖
