Mother’s Day can mean different things to different people. For some it’s a joyful celebration, while for others it can bring feelings of loss, distance or complexity. We also hold space today for those whose mums have passed, those who may be estranged from their mothers and anyone who finds this day difficult.
While many celebrate mums, today is also a moment to recognise all those who nurture, guide and care for others.
To the fathers raising children, the grandparents who step in with love and wisdom, the guardians providing stability and support and the many people who take on a nurturing role in a child’s life, you deserve recognition too.
Parenting and caregiving can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also bring challenges, responsibilities and emotional pressures that are not always spoken about. Taking care of others often means we forget to take care of ourselves.
