Julian and Nicky recently caught up with great friends and family, James and Fidelma Kirk, ahead of the annual Summer Fields School Dinner, where James is Bursar.

A lovely evening spent putting the world to rights and sharing thoughts on the challenges of business finance in 2026… all over a glass or two of red, of course! 🍷

Nicky and I were in the big smoke on Saturday evening for a dinner with a great group of our ‘friendly’ funeral director colleagues.

It was genuinely heartening to hear that so many of us are sharing similar experiences across the profession.

I’m pictured with this year’s President of the London Association of Funeral Directors, Adrian Saville. His mum Sue has been a real force in funeral sector education for many years, so it was lovely to catch up.

Nicky also managed to grab a photo with Adam Ginder, who runs a business in Watford with his brother Daniel. Adam is preparing for a charity trek in China and has fully committed to the look with a very convincing “Brian Blessed” beard.
We’ve sponsored him and sent a few plasters for good measure. Good luck Adam!

Julian Walker attended the Berkshire Lieutenancy Presentation Ceremony for Bristish Empire medals and King's Award for Voluntary Service this week in Wokingam - very proud to see all receipients beng honoured - pictured is 2Lt Annette Foale receiving her BEM for longstanding and outstanding voluntary work with Berkshire Army Cadets.
Our friends at Berkshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre who we have previously sponsored, received the KAVS and Kaleidoscopic UK also won - they won the Wokingham Borough Award we sponsored a couple of years ago - well done Team! Wokingham in Need and Youthline were also worthy winners of the KAVS. Congratulations to everyone!
