I'm very pleased to announce that my passion for the power of lifestyle over our health and wellbeing is taking a new and exciting direction!

I have been appointed as a PHC Ambassador for Wokingham which is a voluntary position working with the local community and GPs to deliver information and support to help people on their journeys to better health. 😁

I will be running courses, both in person and online and can't wait to start sharing what has been transforming lives all over the country. The best part is that this is accessible to all, a free service offering information that everyone can benefit from and I can't wait to get started!

Did you manage to work out what the miracle treatment for so many ills was?

It was SLEEP! 😍

It’s not something that is valued in modern society where there is a mistaken belief that sleep is something the can be squeezed into a busy life.

It is scientifically proven that relative to the recommended 7-9 hours a night, the shorter you sleep, the shorter your life span. The old saying ‘I’ll sleep when I’m dead’ is unfortunate to say the least!

Having decided to start posting again I now don’t know where to start! 😂

My journey probably began about 17 years ago, accelerated about 10 years ago and has become a real passion over the last 2 or 3 years. I have learned so much over this period I can’t now imagine how it would feel learning this for the first time, all at once. I need to start at the beginning, but of course the beginning is a different point for everyone depending where they are in their life journey when they are reading this. What is the situation with their physical, mental and emotional health?

So, today I will begin by sharing something simple, hopefully uncontentious and easy to understand. Over the coming weeks and months I will attempt to explain why! In the meantime, any questions, ask away 🥰

I have recently decided to resurrect this page and you may be wondering why, after all this time!

I was listening to a podcast recently when the host said the reason they were making the shows was so that there would be a permanent record of what they think and how they feel for her children to use in the future.

As an older mother I am very conscious that by the time my boys arrive at midlife, when they may well be developing the usual midlife ailments, I may not be here to pass on the benefit of my experience. Using this page, I too can create a record of everything I want them to know so that when they need it, it will be here for them, even if I am not. The good news is, of course, that by following my own advice I very much hope to be here too!

If anyone else can benefit from these posts in the meantime, feel free. I would love to hear what works for you too 😊

Back when I worked in PR, I used to spend a lot of time coming up with clever promotional copy to help sell all sorts of things (including crisps and sweets). It's nice to be promoting something a lot more constructive these days: health.This whole poem popped right into my head - pretty much as it is below - while I was in my car a few years ago. It's my poetic take on the subject of the emerging field of epigenetics, ie. our ability to switch genes on or off, depending on our environment and our lifestyle choices, very much including what goes on our fork. The take-home message is key: you are NOT controlled by your genes. They just represent a propensity towards this or that chronic disease - we can override that propensity with our day to day choices.

A brilliant little ditty to remind us all that fat is not the enemy, of the brain or the waistline 😊

I've spent today chatting to the lovely folk at John Lewis as part of an in-house wellness day. Lots of them took away this poem on the importance of feeding your brain. It's a little ditty I wrote to remind you that - no matter whether you're dealing with customers all day, working in an office, looking after kids or whatever - you absolutely need your brain working properly. And that means eating lots of good fats!
