We are delighted to be able to announce the launch of the MyWay app!
This is for everyone to use at the University, and has some incredible features to keep you safe while out and about.
Please download now using the link: https://thingitude.com/myway-student-safety-2/ 🧔🧔

With help from members of the RUSU Welfare team & students at UoR, we have worked to develop and now launch the MyWay App!

A live & interactive app for students to navigate around campus and the surrounding areas safely and confidently by using pinned locations, arriving home notifications and options for the safest & fastest route home! Plus much much more!

This amazing app will be rolling out to other lucky universities in the future...but right now it is a Reading exclusive!

Get the 360 to 3sixty!

In early 2021, as one of my main manifesto points I vowed to introduce a bus service on union nights (Wednesday & Saturday) to get you home safely after enjoying the brilliance of RUSU’s nights out.

I am very glad to report that from the 22nd September the new ā€˜360 Bus’ will be running up to every 11 minutes between RUSU (just by Eat at the Square/the back of Co-op) and the local student areas such as Erleigh Road Co-op where a new stop is being installed, Whiteknights Road, Three Tuns, Wokingham Road & Cemetery Junction.

This service will be operated by Reading Buses and the most important bit of news for you – this service is FREE for you to use throughout this term!

Prior to midnight Buses will run in a loop starting from Three Tuns, down the Wokingham Road, past Grange Avenue, to Cemetery Junction then onwards to serve Erleigh Road Co-op and straight to RUSU.

Buses will leave 3sixty venue starting from midnight all the way through to 02:30, so if you fancy calling it a night early or staying till close there is a safe way home for you!

All we ask is that you act respectfully aboard the bus, keep noise down for our neighbours and keep supporting your Students’ Union so we can keep growing opportunities for you.

Hello, I’m Grace Loweth, your Students' Union Welfare Officer. Here at Reading University Students' Union (RUSU), we are looking forward to meeting you all over the coming days. To help you over the welcome period, myself and my team of friendly RUSU Student Life Reps will be on hand to help you move belongings to your room, answer any questions, tell you all about the fantastic opportunities and events at RUSU, as well as helping to settle any nerves or anxieties you may have along the way. Look out for your RUSU Student LIfe Reps around halls and in the Union on nights out - we will be in our bright Orange T-shirts so hopefully we will stand out. Just come over and ask for help if you need it - that's why we are here! We are students so we know what it's like to move the Reading and we want to help you get the most from your experience at Reading. So keep an eye out for your RUSU Student Life Reps - we're in bright orange - come say hi!

Congratulations to Italy on winning the Euros 2021! šŸ‡®šŸ‡¹

Both teams were spectacular last night regardless of the score, and the outcome is no excuse for the behaviour shown by some since the final penalty kick.

As a multicultural and inclusive community, we believe the Euros shouldn't deepen divisions. We applaud the England team for their hard work and are proud of how they all stepped up for England and united us in hope.

Bandy's worked hard as your Welfare Officer this year, she's told us her top three wins that she's most proud of this year šŸ’œ

⭐Created a Wellbeing Champion scheme.
This will help promote positive wellbeing and support students' mental health within each school.

⭐Integrated a new safety app called ā€˜MyWay’.
This will help students feel safe when walking around Reading. The app can detect the busyness of streets, and automatically sends texts to key contacts.

⭐Ran a Year long ā€˜Let’s Talk About Mental Health’ campaign.
This campaign focused on supporting the mental health of international, BAME, male, LGBTQ+ and disabled students. This included a 12 part video series that garnered over 11,000 views overall.
