Let’s talk self-defence, or more realistically, learning to fight.
At Gecko, we obviously push all the big rocks of health and wellbeing: eating well, training consistently, recovering properly, etc. But we strongly believe that learning to protect yourself should be on that list too. Why?
Because it’s not just about staying calm and reacting appropriately if a situation ever arises, which, let’s be honest, could save your life. It’s also about the confidence and mental toughness that comes from knowing you could handle that situation if it did happen. And here’s the thing: having that confidence often means you notice danger long before it becomes a problem, giving you the chance to avoid it altogether.
Pictured here is ._.mckay . She’s 16 and has been boxing with us for a few years now, and her progress has been incredible. Self-defence might not be the first thing people think of when discussing health fundamentals, but we believe learning how to fight absolutely deserves a place on that list.
