It's official this time next week Alex will have his hair cut to donate to the The Little Princess Trust . We just met up with Andre Thompson who will be doing his hair cut. So far we have raised £240 for Cats Protection and we have another week to raise as much money as possible. Please share with friends and donate if you can. I am so proud of my boy and how much we have raised already.

Hope this will change in our lifetime…

Many people believe that when a treatment has good evidence, then it becomes recommended in healthcare guidelines and then available to the public. But there are so many hidden and subjective factors that influence these recommendations. We can see this in the history of recommendations in the UK's NICE Healthcare Guidelines.

- What evidence do the reviewers include and what do they reject?
- Who is eligible to be on the Guideline Development Committee?
- What is acupuncture compared to in order to show effectiveness?
- Are consistent criteria applied to acupuncture's evidence and those of other treatments?
- How is 'acupuncture' even being defined?
- What are the goals of the reviewers? To reduce medication over-use? To save the health service money? To get their own treatments recommended?

Even as the evidence for acupuncture for a wide-variety of conditions has steadily increased over time, it's inclusion in recommendations is never automatically assured. Being aware of all the factors involved can help us to ensure that patients have access to this effective, safe treatment.

A message to our lovely Southcote Community Acupuncture patients, I have a big favour to ask you.

I recently changed my business name from
Radiance Acupuncture and Massage 👉✨Acupuncture Balance Method ✨
This was done to reflect the hard work and training I have done over the last couple of years specialising in different types of acupuncture modalities that have fast, effective results.

I would like to ask all of my patients who have received treatments and are happy to leave a recommendation on my google business page please do so. This will really help any future patients who decide to have treatment with myself.

I really appreciate your continued support especially during this difficult time.
Always here to help better your health and wellbeing.

Kind regards
Lina Doyle

Downward dog kind of day

What is downward dog good for? Hold on... there's alot! It helps to legethen your spine, stretch your hamstrings, shoulders, calves and hands.
It will send fresh blood flow to the brain, helping to calm the mind and relieve stress.
Aswell as that it can relieve symptoms of the menopause and leaves you feeling totally energised!
Awesome pose right?

For our patients who have been a little under the weather try having congee for breakfast with some spring onion, fresh ginger and a little soy sauce... It helps keep your stomach fluids up which is very important when being under the weather... Then get back under the covers and try to sweat as that helps release pathogens.

Stay safe everyone

Dear Patients

Coronavirus update

Understandably, there has been some concern over the Coronavirus and what that means for the clinic.

We are monitoring the situation continuously and are following the advice given by NHS England. The clinic will remain open as long as it is safe to do so and while there is currently no particular concern of closing, we cannot ignore the fact that this is a changing situation.

Following guidance issued by the Government on Thursday 12th March if you or your family develop a new (within in the last few days) persistent cough or fever or you or they have been in close contact with someone who has the coronavirus please:

• Stay at home
• Do not book an appointment to come to the clinic
• Use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service to find out what to do next

For information self-isolation please visit: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/covid-19-stay-at-home-guidance/stay-at-home-guidance-for-people-with-confirmed-or-possible-coronavirus-covid-19-infection

If you develop cold or flu like symptoms please contact NHS 111 and they will advise, but either way if you are feeling unwell please self isolate.

Stay safe everyone, Southcote Community Acupuncture clinic
