A surgeon with the community at heart
Spire Dunedin Hospital is proud of its long history and a little bit of investigation, with help from the History of Reading Society has produced the following quote from the obituary of James Leonard Joyce, the founder of the hospital:
"... many hundreds of patients have been treated with the finest professional skill and with a devotion and patience which was beyond all praise. Many people owe their health and even their lives to this ability and unwearying care."
