***Rain, rain, rain***

I'm not sure what to feel about the weather at the moment.

This nonstop rain is making everything feel cozy, my therapy room right now is warm, the lamps are on and it smells like cinnamon. But at the same time everything is slightly soggy and I really shouldn't have bothered straightening my hair before the school run today.

How are you all feeling?

Reminder for today:

The right people will never need you to be louder, smaller, richer or different. They’ll just need you to be you.

Therapy homework:

Notice one nice thing today, even if it’s small, even if it’s silly.

A delicious coffee. A decent nap. A dog in a jumper.

That’s it. That’s the task.

***When Anxiety Wears a Smile***

Functioning anxiety looks like success, doesn’t it? You’re ticking boxes, getting things done, smiling at the right moments. But inside, your heart’s racing, your thoughts are loud, and you’re exhausted.

The first step isn’t fixing it. It’s acknowledging it. You don’t have to be endlessly strong or endlessly fine. You just have to be honest with yourself.

I have some availability with some wonderful clients ending their journey and my groups now pausing until 2026, so feel free to reach out if you would like to chat about getting some support.

I’ve been talking to a lot of clients about guilt lately, especially the kind that shows up when we say “no”.

Here’s a reminder, boundaries are not rejection, they’re self-respect in action.

***When you feel like a burden***

I hear this all of the time from clients. That heavy, mean voice whispering “I'm too much. I'm dragging everyone down. I shouldn’t ask for help.”

But I'm here to tell you that you are NOT a burden. You’re a human being in pain, and needing support is not weakness, it is human.

***Client Testimonial***

Anyone who works with clients knows the chaos of cancellations, my calendar often feels like a game of Jenga as I try to reshuffle things. But this cancellation is one I’m thrilled about.

A client (who’s kindly given me permission to share this) came to me for support with a fear of heights, something that was affecting them in lots of ways, but especially when crossing high bridges.

We had one session together, and they’d booked a follow-up for two weeks later, but they didn’t need it and so cancelled. The shift they experienced was that powerful.

Phobia work isn’t easy. It asks you to sit with discomfort and lean into vulnerability. And this client did just that, they opened up, did the work, and trusted the process.

I’m so proud of them and wish them all the best moving forward.

"I’ll just take five minutes to scroll and relax"

40 minutes later, feeling tense, overstimulated, and vaguely furious at strangers and the world.

Sound familiar? I'm guilty of this too.

Note of the day - screens aren’t rest.

Your “unproductive” day might have actually been a recovery day.
Rest is not the absence of work, it’s the foundations that makes work possible.

I hope you've had a productive day, whether through work or rest,

One of my clients is doing something really brave this week, stepping way outside their comfort zone.

As they go through it, they’ve been sending me little updates about how it’s going, what they’re feeling, and how they’re handling the newness. It’s not always easy, but they’re sticking with it, and I feel so lucky to be part of this experience with them and to cheer them on with every small win.

This is what therapy is really about. It’s not about fixing things for someone or making the hard stuff disappear. It’s about being there while they build the strength to face it themselves.

Change is uncomfortable, but the growth and new experiences that comes from it is absolutely worth it.

Screens steal time. Nature & social engagement gives it back.
