Can we admit something? Calling motherhood “losing yourself” isn’t the full story.

When I became a mother, I kept coming back to this narrative - the idea that I’d “lost myself”.

When women change, we frame it as disappearance.
As if something valuable went missing.

But change isn’t vanishing.

Some parts of you softened.
Some strengthened.
Some no longer fit the life you’re living.

That isn’t loss.
That’s evolution.

Maybe you haven’t lost yourself.
Maybe you’re becoming someone more layered than before.

👉 Does “loss” feel true to you - or does “change” feel more honest? I’d love to know…

I used to catch myself saying “mini-me” quite a lot.
And over time I’ve realised how much I don’t like it.

Because my children aren’t here to become me.

They don’t _love_ the theatre.
They’re not passionate about playing a musical instrument.
My daughter was never interested in dance classes, even though my entire childhood was spent in a leotard.

And that’s okay.
More than okay, actually.

Years ago I read The Conscious Parent by Dr. Shefali and this stayed with me - our job isn’t to mould our children into who we are. It’s to create space for who they already are.

As they get older, more independent, more themselves, I feel how much this asks of me.

To loosen my grip.
To notice when I’m projecting.
To choose curiosity over control.

I’m not raising a mini-me.
I’m raising a human.
Is this something you’re noticing too?

One of the biggest shifts I’m learning in motherhood at the moment is this: the work isn’t always to fix.

Sometimes it’s to listen.

With my daughter (she’s 11), we’ve started a small rule.
When she begins to tell me something, I ask:
“Would you like advice, or would you like me to just listen?”

It sounds simple. It isn’t.
Everything in me wants to jump in.
Solve. Smooth. Protect. Improve.
Because that’s what mothers do… right?

But I’m learning that presence can be more powerful than solutions.

That being a steady place to land matters more than having the right answer.

I don’t get it right every time.
But I’m noticing this: the more I listen, the more she talks.
And the more she trusts her own voice.

Less fixing.
More listening.
More space for who she already is.💚

✨Life can be a wild ride, full of twists and turns that leave us feeling like we're being tossed around in a storm🌪️ Can you relate? ❤️

But here's something I’ve been holding onto recently: your greatest strength lies not in trying to control every aspect of our lives, but in accepting the things we simply can't change💫

Picture it like this: imagine carrying a heavy backpack on your shoulders, filled with all the things you desperately want to control but can't. It's exhausting, right?🎒 Well, here's a liberating idea—release that weight. Let go of the things that are beyond your control, and watch as a sense of peace and resilience arise in you.🕊️

✨ It's not about fighting against the winds of life, but about focusing on how we react to them. That's where our true power lies💪. Instead of wasting energy and getting frustrated by things we can't change, we can channel our energy towards what truly matters—our actions, our mindset, and our growth 🌿

👉️You've got everything it takes to navigate this journey with grace and resilience. Keep shining! ✨💪

✨ Let's ditch the manifesting misconceptions and dive deep into what truly makes this practice work. Here are 5 manifesting mistakes you're making:

✨ 1: Doubting Your Power 🌟

✨ 2: Scarcity vs. Abundance 🌈

✨ 3: Ignoring Inner Work 🌻

✨ 4: Impatience & Instant Results ⏳

✨ 5: Neglecting the Power of Gratitude 🙌

You see, manifestation is not as simple as thinking positive thoughts or visualising your dreams every single day. That's just scratching the surface! Manifestation is so much more than that—it's a profound process that requires us to align our thoughts, emotions, and actions in a whole new way. 🙌💡

If manifestation is a new concept to you or you'd like to deepen your understanding and practice, sign up to my newsletter, The Interval, and be the first to find out about my upcoming workshops, events and special offers! Link in bio👆️

🔥 Ignite Your Inner Power with Affirmations! ✨💪🏼

One of the key ways to transform your mindset? Harness the incredible power of affirmations! 🌟💫

Affirmations work wonders by rewiring your brain and activating the reticular activating system (RAS), the powerful filter that helps you focus on what's important. When you consistently affirm positive traits and possibilities, your RAS goes to work, attracting opportunities and experiences aligned with your beliefs. 🌟🚀

Through the practice of affirmations, you'll suddenly find yourself noticing the support, love, and strength that have always been there. The world around you will align with your positive mindset, revealing possibilities you might have missed before. 💥❤️

Repeat these affirmations daily, with unwavering conviction, and start to reshape your mindset.💫✨

Tag someone who needs to be reminded of their incredible strength and innate worth today. 👇️
