It’s Nutrition and Hydration Week 💧🥗

This week is a great reminder of how the small things we do every day can make a big difference to our health.

Something as simple as sharing a meal, making a cup of tea, or reminding someone to have a drink can help people stay well, feel more energised and remain independent for longer.

For many people in our communities, particularly older adults, eating well and staying hydrated isn’t just about health, it’s about connection, comfort and routine.

A friendly check-in, sitting down together for lunch, or offering a glass of water can go further than we realise.

Let’s use this week as an opportunity to look out for one another and encourage simple habits that support wellbeing.

Sometimes the smallest acts of care make the biggest difference.

We recently received some lovely feedback about our Private Client Team.

A client shared how grateful they were for the kindness and reassurance they received during a difficult moment. When they called feeling overwhelmed, our team member took the time to listen, offer support, and help resolve an issue that had been causing a lot of stress.

Moments like this remind us how important it is to be there for people when they need support the most. 💙

Today we’re celebrating Heidi, who was presented with flowers and chocolates in recognition of the incredible support she gave to one of our Truro complex care packages.

By stepping in when it was needed most, she ensured the client continued to receive the important clinical interventions they rely on.

A wonderful example of teamwork and dedication in action.

Thank you, Heidi 💙

To celebrate International Women’s Day, we asked our carers what they gain from giving care, reflecting this year’s theme “Give to Gain.” 💙

Every day our team gives compassion, support and kindness and in return they gain meaningful connections, pride in their work and the knowledge they’re making a real difference.

Some of our carers’ children have dressed up as their favourite book characters, and we couldn’t resist sharing their brilliant costumes!

Home Care or Residential Care – What’s the Difference?

When someone needs extra support, families are often faced with an important decision.

🏡 Home care means receiving support in the comfort of your own home. Routines stay familiar. Pets stay close. Memories remain all around you. Care is built around the individual.

🏢 Residential care offers 24-hour support within a care setting, with on-site staff and shared community spaces.

There is no “one size fits all”. The right choice depends on personal needs, health requirements, and what feels most comfortable for the individual and their family.

At Alexandra’s Community Care, we believe many people can continue living safely and happily at home with the right support in place and that maintaining independence and familiarity can make a real difference to wellbeing.

If you’re exploring options for yourself or a loved one, we’re always happy to have an informal, supportive conversation .
