YOUNG PERSON'S COUNSELLING - How does it work?

Considering counselling? Or maybe a teacher, friend or parent has suggested counselling may help and you don't really know what it is, what to say or how it can make a difference.

If it is something you want to explore then absolutely bring those questions along and share them. Your counsellor will be happy to explain and you can decide if counselling is for you.

The counsellor will listen to any concerns or problems you are experiencing and work together with you to deconstruct the difficulty, identify options and explore strategies to move forward that feels right for you.

Young People's Counselling is available to 11-18 yrs old, or up to 24yrs if still in full-time education. Sessions can be accessed in person at our Epsom or Reigate centres or via video call.

We will be sharing some common questions every Thursday. However eveyone is an individual and the topics brought are wide and varied.

Appointments can be made by email - admin@surreycm.org.uk or via the contact us form on our website

Tuesday Mediation FAQ - why choose mediation over going directly to a solicitor?

Mediation has many benefits to the alternative of engaging a solicitor to do everything on your behalf.

It is a much cheaper option (you may wish to do a cost comparison), it is quicker and less stressful than a legal process and the possibility of court.

In mediation, you and your ex-partner are the decision makers, the mediator’s role is to help you both work towards reaching solutions that work for both of you and your children. These are usually more sustainable as you have worked together and made the decisions together.

Don't forget our free mediation webinar on 6th November where you can ask your own specific questions. Find out more on our website or email info@surreycm.org.uk

Thank you so much to our team of volunteers for making this possible. Any funds raised will go towards our bursary scheme - removing the financial barrier to accessing support.

Tuesday Mediation FAQ - Is there any point in trying if I know my ex won't take part?

One of our practice standards as mediators is to give both people the opportunity to attend a MIAM and find out about how mediation works. This is regardless of whether you wish to mediate or not.

Experience tells us that whilst the first person attending a MIAM may feel certain their ex-partner may not want to engage. However when they are contacted by the mediator and invited to a MIAM, we have found that this can often result in a change of heart about giving mediation a go.

Don't forget our free monthly mediation webinars wh.ere you can ask your own questions in the live Q&A . Next session is 6th November. Find out more on our website or email info@surreycm.org
