There is a part of parenting that no one really talks about. The way it can push you into relationships and social spaces that feel a little uncomfortable. I've explored that in this new post.

There is a part of parenting that often takes people by surprise. It is the way it reshapes our social world. Before children, most of us spent time with people we naturally connected with. We chose friends, colleagues, groups and conversations that suited who we were. If someone drained us, unsettled...

Not everything that looks like therapy offers the same experience.
Some approaches move fast. Some go wide. Others go deeper.

I have written a short piece about the difference, and what it means when support is shaped by convenience rather than careful thinking.

You can read it here:

There is a quiet shift happening in the therapy world. More platforms are offering fast access and low cost support, with sessions that are short and frequent and therapists who are encouraged to work at high volume. These services are often marketed as efficient solutions for a busy life. The messa...

A quiet moment can change everything.
Most days we move fast without thinking. Then something interrupts the pace and we suddenly meet the thoughts and feelings that sit beneath the surface.

It can be gentle. It can be intense. It can be the very thing we have needed for a long time.

My latest post explores what happens when we slow down enough to notice ourselves with clarity instead of distraction. If it speaks to you, you might find therapy to be a place where this kind of noticing becomes steady and supported.

Read the full post here:

Life moves at a pace that leaves very little room for us to catch up with ourselves. We drift from task to task, conversation to conversation, thought to thought. Most of the time we do not notice how quickly the days carry us forward. The movement becomes normal. The speed becomes expected. Then som...

There are rules we follow without realising we agreed to them.Be kind. Do not make a fuss. Stay strong. Stay polite. Keep moving. Most of these rules are old, so old we no longer remember where they came from. Yet they shape the way we show up in the world every day.We notice them in small moments.Wh...

New piece on AI use by Hannah Downing:

I have come to think of approaching AI as holding a door. It can stay closed, open just a little, or swing wide to let everything rush in. Most days, it feels most helpful when it stays slightly ajar. AI can offer direction, but it does not need to take the lead. It works best as a tool that support...

There is a line between who does what with AI.

How much do you do and how much do you allow AI to do? Only you can draw that line.

When AI begins to take over, we can be left with uncomfortable feelings.

Where does your line sit?

Some thoughts have a habit of showing up when things finally quieten down β€” late in the evening, early in the morning, or in those in between moments when the day has not fully begun.

If something is sitting on your mind today, you do not have to push it away. You can notice it, name it, or simply acknowledge that it is there. Awareness is often the first small step towards understanding what is really going on underneath.

You can scratch at the surface if something is beginning to come up. Go a little deeper if you want, towards what might be pushing from underneath.

Layer by layer, like an archaeologist uncovering forgotten times, you begin to find what has been waiting there. You don’t need to know what you will uncover before you start.

In therapy, that uncovering can happen together, carefully, at your own pace, discovering meaning from what has been buried.

Weekends can be full for some, and quietly heavy for others.
When the noise of the week fades, the quiet can sometimes feel too big.

We might long for rest and then find ourselves faced with a feeling we had managed to keep at bay.

If this weekend feels a little lonely, perhaps it is simply something in you asking to be noticed. Sometimes the quiet gives space for what has been waiting to be felt.

Our phones are always within reach, ready to distract us from moments of unease.

In my latest blog, I explore how these moments of escape shape our lives, and how noticing them can help us reconnect with ourselves.
