We had another week filled with various activities to keep our residents active and entertained here at Wray Common Nursing Home...from arts and crafts making Christmas cards, playing skittles and hoops, board games,chair exercises and yoga, Luncheon Club and finishing with light musical entertainment by the very talented Carol.

Person-centred care and one to one room visits for the residents who are not able to attend organised group activities are also at the core of the service we provide. We visit, encourage, comfort, support them mentally and emotionally through sensory activities or just gentle human interaction. Sometimes, that afternoon cup of tea and cake tastes better when you have someone there to chat with!The family and friends visits also play a vital role in promoting their mental well-being and happiness.

🌸 What a lovely day we’ve had! We started with our Luncheon Club, sharing good food and great company — wonderful for keeping everyone socially connected. 🥗 Then Carol the instrumentalist filled the home with beautiful music, helping everyone relax and reminisce. 🎶 We finished with some sweet Chocolate Week treats to lift the mood and end the day on a high note! 🍫❤️

🎳 Our residents had a wonderful time playing skittles today — a fun activity with great therapeutic benefits too!

Skittles supports hand-eye coordination, grip strength, and upper limb mobility, while also encouraging social interaction, focus, and emotional wellbeing. It’s a great example of how meaningful leisure activities can promote both physical and cognitive health.
