We’d love for you to join us at Abbeyfield Reigate for our Open Morning on Saturday 11th October, from 10am to 12pm. Abbeyfield House is a beautifully renovated Victorian home with 10 comfortable one-bedroom units, offering sheltered housing for people over 65. We pride ourselves on creating a warm, home-from-home atmosphere where residents feel supported while enjoying as much independence as possible.

Nicki joined Abbeyfield as the Administration Manager in April this year after spending most of her working life as a PA and Events Manager in the insurance industry. She is enjoying working in a completely different setting and getting to know all the lovely residents. She said "I didn't even know that Abbeyfield existed until I came to work here and can honestly say that it is a wonderful place, which provides a fabulous home from home environment for those who live here. It's a busy house with plenty to keep everyone occupied and never a dull moment for staff and residents alike! When not working, Nicki enjoys spending time with friends and family; participating in amateur dramatics and gets plenty of exercise walking her Cockapoo.

As temps reach over 30, we thought it might be an idea to give you some tips for keeping cool in the heat

🌞 5 Tips to Help Older Folks Cope in 30°C+ Heat 🌡️

💧 Stay hydrated – drink water often, avoid alcohol & too much caffeine.

🏡 Keep homes cool – close blinds, use fans, open windows at night.

👕 Dress light – loose, light-coloured clothes & wide hats help.

🚫 Avoid peak heat – stay indoors 11am–3pm, rest in shade if out.

📞 Check in often – watch for dizziness, confusion or tiredness.

We were pleased to participate in this interesting event today and to meet representatives from several local organisations working towards a brighter future for older folk in our community.

Very informative event today in conjunction with Age UK. We listen to information from their brilliant Planning For Your Future team and also met representatives from organisations and charities including Red Cross, MVLife, Home Instead, Age Concern and other local organisations who gave information on helping people to stay at home for longer. Thank you to all. Age UK.
